Wet electrostatic precipitator (WEP) is a new dedusting equipment used to treat micro-dust and micro-particles. It is mainly used to remove harmful substances such as dust, acid mist, water droplets, aerosol, odor, PM2.5 in humid gas. It is an ideal equipment to control air dust pollution.

Wet electrostatic precipitator (WESP) is commonly referred to as WESP. It has the same basic principle as dry electrostatic precipitator. It has to undergo three stages: charging, collecting and cleaning.

There are two main types of wet electrostatic precipitator, one is to use corrosion-resistant conductive materials (non-metallic materials with excellent conductivity or metal materials with corrosion resistance) as dust collector, the other is to form conductive water film by spraying or overflowing water, and the other is to use non-conductive non-metallic materials as dust collector.

Wet electrostatic precipitator can also be divided into horizontal (horizontal) and vertical (vertical) flow according to the direction of waste gas flow. The cross flow is mostly plate structure. The flow direction is horizontal, and the structure is similar to that of dry electrostatic precipitator. The vertical flow is mostly tubular structure, and the gas flow direction is vertical. Generally speaking, the efficiency of vertical-flow wet electrostatic precipitator is twice as high as that of cross-flow wet electrostatic precipitator under the same ventilation cross-section area.

The dust deposited on the plate can be washed down by water. Wet dust removal can avoid the re-flying of collected dust and achieve high dust removal efficiency. Because there is no vibration device, the operation is more reliable. There are some problems in the treatment of corrosion, sludge and sewage in the devices that form conductive film on the surface of dust collector by spraying water or overflow water, only when the dust concentration of gas is low and the dust removal efficiency is high. The wet electrostatic precipitator using corrosion-resistant conductive material as dust collector does not need long-term spraying water or overflow water, and only flushes regularly according to the operation condition of the system, but only eliminates them. It consumes very little water, which can be recycled and recycled, and there is no secondary pollution in the dust collection system.

WESP has many advantages, such as high dust removal efficiency, low pressure loss, simple operation, low energy consumption, no moving parts, no secondary dust, low maintenance cost, short production shutdown period, working below dew point temperature of flue gas, compact structure, combination with other flue gas treatment equipment and diversified design forms.

Wet electrostatic precipitator (WEP) uses liquid to wash the surface of dust collector to clean the dust. It can effectively collect fine particles (PM2.5 dust, SO3 acid mist, aerosol), heavy metals (Hg, As, Se, Pb, Cr), organic pollutants (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, dioxins) and so on. The dust emission in wet flue gas after using wet electrostatic precipitator can reach 10 mg/m3 or even 5 mg/m3. The dust collection performance has nothing to do with the dust characteristics. It is suitable for the treatment of wet flue gas, especially for the treatment of dust-containing flue gas after wet desulfurization in power plants and steel plants. However, the investment cost of the equipment is high, and it needs to be used in conjunction with other dedusting equipment. Its investment, technical economy and operation cost are important.
