Halnn PCBN Insert, the right choice for hard turning bearings with high efficiency
Bearings are one of the most importance components of the machine tools and the whole machine industry. And with the increasing competition on this industry, the heat treatment technology is improved, which improve the tool life. And the hardness of the bearings after heat treatment is high, and difficult to machine.
In the process of machining bearings, it is divided into 3 types: continuous turning, semi-interrupt turning and heavy interrupt turning condition according the different machining site. And it is difficult for heavy interrupt turning condition, especially for the large scale bearing
In current times, the cutting tools materials include carbide insert, ceramic cutters and pcbn insert, because it has high hardness for slewing bearings, carbide insert usually appear not wear phenomenon; ceramic cutters is brittle, only can be used for finishing process with small allowance. PCBN insert is the best cutting tools for machining ferrous metals, and the disadvantages are only can be used for high hardness materials.
Specific for the requirements of hard turning bearings, Halnn research BN-S200 and Bn-S20 solid cbn inserts, BN-S200 is suitable for finishing process, the cutting depth is below 0.3mm, the precision can arrive Ra0.8.
BN-S20 solid cbn insert can be used for both roughing and finishing process, which make sure the toughness of the pcbn insert, and suit for rough and finish machining high hardness workpiece, the hardness of pcbn insert can be HRC98.5, the materials hardness will range HRC45~79. It is suitable for large working allowance turning or turning instead of grinding. The allowance can reach 7.5mm.
Besides above solid cbn insert, it also has another pcbn insert grade BN-H11, which can realize high speed cutting bearings, and the roughness can reach Ra0.8, and make sure the long tool life, reduce the total costs.
