BN-S300 SNEN Solid CBN Insert rough milling engine block with high precision
Engine Block, as the base of the engine, it required high on the precision and surface quality, for example, side Flatness need within0.03mm, Cylinder roundness will be within0.004mm, and the Verticality will be within0.03mm, Surface Roughness require Ra1.6. With the increasing competition on this industry, traditional cutting tools(carbide insert, ceramic cutters and coating carbide insert) can’t satisfy all the requirements . Many manufacturers can only use international brand (Seco, Sandvik, Sumitomo,ect) cbn insert, but it costs so high. So manufacturers are searching other cutting tools which can replace international cbn inserts, and reduce the tool costs.
1. The materials of engine block are gray cast iron, and have low hardness.
Traditional cutting tools can machine. But for the high requirements on the engine block, traditional cutting tools(carbide insert, ceramic cutters and coating carbide insert) can’t satisfy all the requirements, many manufacturers use famous brand (Seco, Sandvik ) Insert for milling and boring prosess.
CBN Insert has high hardness, stable performance and long tool life, also can obtain good product quality, so it often is used for milling engine block with high cutting speed. Especially Halnn BN-S300, BNK30 and BN-K20 PCBN inserts, is the most widely used for milling and boring engine block.
And BN-S300 belong to solid cbn insert, mainly used for milling engine block, BN-K20 and BNK30 are brazing pcbn insert, are mainly used for boring process to make sure high surface quality and long tool life. And all of them have been widely used.
