Desiccant dryers are also known as Regenerative Desiccant Dryers and Twin Tower Dryers.
The compressed air is passed through a pressure vessel filled with an absorbent
media such as activated alumina, silica gel, molecular sieve or other desiccant
material. The desiccant adsorbs the moisture in its millions of pores, trapping
it. The desiccant can bring the dew point of water vapor in the compressed air
down to -40 degrees C or below.



Desiccant regeneration is accomplished
by heating the desiccant with internal electric or steam heaters and purge air.
Either atmospheric air or compressed air from the air steam is used as the
purge air.
