The silt barriers are a solid floating device with a geotextile curtain recommended for use in areas where civil works are carried out in protected waters and little waves (ports, shipyards, dams ...).
It consists of a floating containment boom and silt curtain bottom. The containment barrier retains liquid and solid within the full height and let the silt curtain let pass through liquids but not solids.
GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
The barrier characteristics are as follow: (TOP SIDE)
Top side (Buoyancy part)
Total Height: The Top side will have a overall height of approximately 36 "(0.91 m).
Length: Each section is 15 meters long.
Floats: Octagonal Section 12 "(31 cm) of expanded polystyrene type I, with a density of 0.90-1.14 complying with ASTM D 1622 303 60 lb/ft3 of buoyancy. The floats will be encapsulated in a PVC of 22 oz per square yard.
Canvas: The entire topside will be made of polyester 6 oz per square yard, coated with Poly Vinyl Chloride 22 oz./yd2 with additives to resist ultraviolet rays. This canvas is yellow color.
Superior Tensor Members: The mesh will have two stainless steel wires, under the float, one on each side of the mesh. Such cables shall be stainless steel type 304 and run along the stretch starting and ending in a connector on the other. All end fixings of cables to connect to the fixings shall be stainless steel type 304. Cables must be joined, against themselves, every 5 feet (1.52 meters) along the span.
Bottom side (Ballast): This part will feature of a galvanized chain 3/8 "(10 mm) as ballast and as bottom tensile member. This chain will be encapsulated in a double layer pocket of PVC canvas of 22 ounces/yd2. The chain will have an eyelet at one end and a hook on the other in order to allow a spam is joined to another. Both the eyelet and the hook shall be stainless steel type 304.
Top of the Bottom side: it will have a polypropylene rope 3/8” canvas encapsulated along the spam. Such rope will be encapsulated via heat or radiofrequency. This area will also feature eyelets to allow this one to be attached to the Central Part.
