Q1: What is the recommended storage condition for this prepreg tape?
For maximum shelf life of 12 months, store the tape in a sealed moisture-proof bag at -18°C (0°F) or below. For short-term use (up to 30 days), it can be stored at room temperature (25°C) in the original packaging.
Q2: Can this prepreg tape be used for hand layup?
Yes, it has moderate tack at room temperature, making it suitable for hand layup and vacuum bagging. It also works well with automated tape laying (ATL) machines.
Q3: What is the out-life at room temperature?
The out-life is 30 days at 25°C (77°F) when kept in sealed packaging. After opening, we recommend using the material within 5-7 days to avoid excessive tack loss or moisture absorption.
Q4: What cure cycle is recommended?
A typical cure cycle: ramp at 1-2°C/min to 150°C, hold for 60 minutes, then cool to room temperature. Pressure of 3-7 bar (vacuum bag or autoclave) is required. Adjustments may be needed based on part thickness.
Q5: Is the PC resin system compatible with epoxy-based prepregs?
PC resin is different from epoxy. Co-curing with epoxy prepregs is not recommended. However, PC prepreg can be bonded using appropriate adhesives after curing.
