1. Product Overview
Steel round bar (round rod, solid round bar) is a long steel product with a solid circular cross-section. Its specification is indicated by diameter Φ (mm). It is produced from high-quality steel billets through hot rolling, cold drawing and forging processes. Featuring dense structure and uniform stress distribution, it boasts favorable cutting, forging, welding and heat treatment properties, serving as a fundamental raw material for machinery manufacturing, steel structures and engineering machinery.
2. Production Process & Delivery Condition
Hot Rolled Round Bar (Main Stock Product)Surface: Black oxidized surface; Specification range: Φ5.5mm～500mm. It has medium dimensional tolerance with high cost performance, mostly used for machining blanks and structural components. Executed standard: GB/T 702-2017.
Cold Drawn Round BarSurface: Clean and bright surface; Specification range: Φ3mm～120mm. It features high dimensional accuracy and excellent straightness with small machining allowance, suitable for direct precision machining. Executed standard: GB/T 905.
Forged Round BarSpecification range: Φ120mm～1000mm. It has refined internal grains, high flaw detection grade and strong bearing capacity, applicable for heavy-duty large components.
Optional delivery conditions: hot rolled black surface, peeled, ground, annealed, normalized, quenched and tempered.
3. Common Material Grades
Ordinary Carbon Structural SteelQ235B, Q355B; Advantages: excellent weldability and low cost; Applications: steel structure supports, foundation bolts, embedded parts and general welded components.
High-quality Carbon Structural Steel10#, 20#, 35#, 45#; Capable of quenching and tempering; Applications: transmission shafts, gear blanks, pin shafts, flanges and fastener blanks.
Alloy Structural Steel40Cr, 42CrMo, 35CrMo, 20CrMo; High strength and toughness; Applications: auto parts, hydraulic components, heavy-duty gears and main shafts for engineering machinery.
Special Steel (Supplied on Demand)GCr15 bearing steel, 60Si2Mn spring steel, Cr12MoV die steel, Y40Mn free-cutting steel, 304/316 stainless steel round bar.
4. Dimensional Parameters
Diameter range: Φ5.5mm～Φ1000mm
Standard length: 6m, 9m, 12m; Custom fixed length and multiple length available
Theoretical weight formula: Weight per meter (kg/m) = Diameter(mm) × Diameter(mm) × 0.00617
Surface requirement: Free of harmful defects such as cracks, scabs, folds and laminations. Ultrasonic Testing (UT) can be conducted as customer required.
5. Executed Standards
National standards: GB/T700, GB/T699, GB/T3077, GB/T702, GB/T905Production in accordance with ASTM, EN, DIN, JIS international standards upon request.

7. Packing & Shipment
Small specification (Φ≤32mm): Bundled with steel strips. Each bundle is marked with material grade, specification and heat number.
Large-diameter round bar: Loose packing with marks sprayed on both ends; Anti-rust oil coating and waterproof film wrapping are available for export.
Documents: Original Mill Test Certificate (MTC) provided with goods; Third-party inspection is supported.
Minimum order quantity: Normally 5 tons; Lead time: 3–7 working days.
