Cold Rolled Steel Coil (CRC)

1. Product Overview

Cold Rolled Steel Coil (CRC) is produced by using hot rolled steel coil as raw material. After pickling to remove scale, the material is rolled at room temperature (below recrystallization temperature) through multiple passes. Subsequent processes such as annealing and tempering are applied to optimize its properties. Different from hot rolled products, it undergoes no high-temperature heating during production, featuring smooth surface, precise dimensions and excellent stamping performance. It is a key base material for precision manufacturing and deep processing.

2. Production Process

  1. Raw Material Preparation: Adopt high-quality hot rolled steel coils, mainly low-carbon steel grades such as Q195 and Q235, with sound surface condition.

  2. Pickling: Remove hot rolling scale and rust thoroughly with acid solution to prevent surface defects in subsequent rolling.

  3. Cold Rolling: Roll the material to target thickness at ambient temperature with a reduction rate of 40% - 80%, while improving surface finish and dimensional accuracy.

  4. Annealing: Hard cold rolled coils have high hardness and poor ductility. Annealing eliminates work hardening and restores plasticity and toughness for bending, stamping and other deep forming processes.

  5. Finishing: Including leveling for flatness and surface roughness control, slitting to required width/length, and oiling for anti-rust treatment before warehousing.

  • Thickness: 0.2 - 4.0 mm (Common: 0.3 - 2.5 mm; customized thickness from 0.06 mm to 4.0 mm available)

3.2 Dimensional Tolerance (Based on 1.0mm thickness)

  • Standard Precision: Thickness tolerance ±0.04 mm; Width tolerance 0 ~ +5 mm

  • High Precision: Thickness tolerance ±0.025 mm; Width tolerance 0 ~ +3 mm, suitable for precision processing

3.3 Surface Quality

  • Appearance: Silvery metallic luster, free of scale, pitting, scratches and peeling. Surface roughness Ra: 0.4 - 1.5 μm.

  • Surface Grade:

    • Grade Ⅰ: Super clean surface without visible defects, for automotive outer panels and high-end home appliance panels.

    • Grade Ⅱ: Slight scattered fine scratches or color difference permitted, for home appliance inner panels, furniture and hardware products.

    • Grade Ⅲ: Minor non-impairing defects allowed, for general stamping parts and packaging materials.

8. Packaging & Marking

8.1 Packaging

  • Standard Package: Horizontal packing with inner moisture-proof paper + plastic film, reinforced with steel protectors and steel straps to avoid collision and moisture.

  • Premium Package: Additional waterproof film and foam padding for high-end products such as automotive and home appliance panels.

  • Custom Package: Vertical packing, enhanced anti-rust oil and vacuum packaging are available on request.

8.2 Marking

Labels are attached on both inner and outer sides of coils, clearly marked with steel grade, dimension, standard, batch number, weight, production date and mill logo for full traceability.

9. Delivery & Storage

  1. Delivery Condition: Annealed (most common), hard rolled and skin passed. Hard rolled coils are mainly used for simple bending or as raw material for galvanizing.

  2. Storage Requirements: Store indoors in dry, ventilated and moisture-proof warehouse. Avoid outdoor stacking, rain and direct sunlight. Place coils horizontally to prevent deformation and keep away from corrosive substances.

  3. Lead Time: 5 - 7 working days. Regular specifications are in stock; customized products are available upon production.
