Product Description of Pressure Vessel Steel Plate
Pressure vessel steel plate is a special medium and heavy steel plate used for manufacturing pressure-bearing closed equipment. It features excellent high temperature resistance, low temperature toughness, pressure resistance and weldability, with extremely low impurity content and strict flaw detection requirements. It is widely applied in petroleum, chemical industry, boiler, nuclear power, pharmaceutical and other fields.

Domestic Standards
GB/T 713-2023: Steel plates for boilers and pressure vessels (main standard)
GB/T 3531-2019: Low alloy steel plates for low-temperature pressure vessels
International Standards
American Standards: ASME SA516 (Gr60/65/70), SA387 (Cr-Mo heat-resistant steel)
European Standards: P265GH, P355GH
2. Main Grades & Classification (By Service Temperature & Application)
2.1 Normal & Medium-low Temperature Vessel Plates (Commonly Used)
Q245R: Carbon steel, yield strength ≥245MPa, maximum service temperature ≤425℃. Applied to low-pressure storage tanks and heat exchangers.
Q345R: Low alloy steel, yield strength ≥345MPa, service temperature: -20℃ ~ 475℃. Used for reactors and boiler drums.
2.2 Low-temperature Vessel Plates (-40℃ ~ -196℃)
16MnDR: Suitable for -40℃ working condition, for LNG storage tanks and ethylene plants.
09MnNiDR: Suitable for -70℃ working condition, for liquid nitrogen storage tanks and low-temperature separators.
9Ni Steel: For ultra-low temperature service down to -196℃, core material of LNG storage tanks.
2.3 Heat-resistant Vessel Plates (450℃ ~ 600℃)
15CrMoR: Service temperature ≤550℃, applied to hydrogenation reactors and steam pipelines.
12Cr1MoVR: Service temperature ≤580℃, used for high-temperature & high-pressure boilers and petrochemical heating furnaces.
2.4 High-strength Vessel Plates
Q420R / Q460R: Yield strength 420MPa / 460MPa, for thick-wall vessels and high-pressure storage tanks.
Q690DR: Quenched and tempered high-strength steel with tensile strength grade 690MPa, for lightweight high-pressure equipment.

Delivery Condition
Hot rolled, controlled rolling, normalizing (mandatory for low-temperature plates), normalizing & tempering (for heat-resistant plates), quenching & tempering (for high-strength plates).
Surface & Flaw Detection
Surface: Free from cracks, folds and scabs; shot blasting or sand blasting available.
Ultrasonic Testing (UT): Class Ⅰ / Ⅱ in accordance with NB/T 47013.3.
6. Key Characteristics
High Strength: Yield strength ranges from 245MPa to 690MPa, capable of bearing high pressure and dead load.
Excellent Low-temperature Toughness: Stable impact performance at -40℃ ~ -196℃ to prevent brittle fracture.
High-temperature Performance: Good creep resistance and lasting strength at 450℃ ~ 600℃.
Superior Weldability: Low carbon equivalent (≤0.45%), low sulfur and phosphorus content to avoid welding cracks.
Corrosion Resistance: HIC (Hydrogen Induced Cracking) treatment available for media containing hydrogen sulfide.
7. Application Fields
Petroleum & Chemical Industry: Hydrogenation reactors, LNG storage tanks, ethylene towers, heat exchangers
Power Generation: Boiler drums, high-pressure heaters, nuclear power containment
Coal Chemical Industry: Gasifiers, ammonia synthesis reactors, coal-to-hydrogen equipment
Others: Fermentation tanks for food & pharmaceutical industry, aerospace cryogenic storage tanks, high-pressure gas cylinders
8. Quality Control
Smelting: Electric furnace + LF/VD refining to reduce impurities and gas content.
Rolling: Controlled temperature rolling to obtain fine grain structure (Grain size ≥ Grade 6).
Heat Treatment: Strict temperature control for uniform metallographic structure (ferrite + pearlite / bainite).
Inspection: Piece-by-piece ultrasonic testing, mechanical property test and chemical composition analysis. Material test certificate will be provided.
9. Packaging & Delivery
Packaging: Bundled with steel hoops. Mark grade, dimension, heat number and standard number on both ends.
Port of shipment: Tianjin Port / Qingdao Port. Delivery time: 5-7 working days. Truck and container transportation are supported.
