Alloy Steel Pipe - Detailed Product Description
Alloy steel pipes are seamless pipes manufactured by hot rolling or cold drawing based on carbon steel, with alloying elements such as Chromium (Cr), Molybdenum (Mo), Nickel (Ni) and Vanadium (V) added. Featuring high strength, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance and long service life, they are widely used in energy, chemical industry, high-end equipment and other key fields.
1. Material Composition & Functions of Main Alloy Elements
1.1 Common Material Grades
15CrMo / 15CrMoG: Chromium-molybdenum steel, applicable under temperature ≤550℃, for boilers and steam pipelines.
12Cr1MoV / 12Cr1MoVG: Chromium-molybdenum-vanadium steel for service up to 580℃, mainly used for high-pressure superheaters.
10CrMo910 (P22): 2.25Cr-1Mo steel with excellent creep resistance, applied for main steam pipelines in power stations.
1Cr5Mo (P5): 5% chromium steel with good sulfide corrosion resistance, ideal for furnace tubes in petrochemical industry.
P91 / T91: 9Cr-1Mo-V steel, suitable for ultra-supercritical boilers with operating temperature up to 620℃.
42CrMo: Structural alloy steel with high strength, used for mechanical parts and hydraulic components.
1.2 Functions of Alloy Elements
Chromium (Cr): Improves oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance and hardenability, and forms a dense protective oxide film.
Molybdenum (Mo): Enhances high-temperature strength and creep resistance, and prevents temper brittleness.
Vanadium (V): Refines grain structure, improves overall toughness and fatigue resistance.
Nickel (Ni): Optimizes low-temperature toughness and corrosion resistance, and stabilizes austenite structure.
2. Core Properties (vs. Ordinary Carbon Steel Pipes)
High Strength: Tensile strength ranges from 440MPa to 1000MPa, 30%~50% higher than carbon steel, delivering superior pressure and load-bearing capacity.
High Temperature Resistance: Maintains stable performance under long-term service at 500℃~620℃ with outstanding creep resistance, specially designed for boilers and power stations.
Corrosion Resistance: Resists acid, alkali, salt spray and sulfide. The annual corrosion rate is less than 0.01mm, and the service life is 2~3 times longer than ordinary pipes.
Low-temperature Toughness: No brittle fracture at -40℃, suitable for low-temperature and cold working conditions.
Good Processability: Available for welding, cold bending and hot expanding; performance remains stable after heat treatment.

5. Production Process
Hot Rolling / Hot Extruding / Hot Expanding: Billet heating → Piercing → Rolling → Sizing → Cooling → Straightening → Flaw detection. Suitable for large-diameter and heavy-wall pipes.
Cold Rolling / Cold Drawing: Hot rolled pipe → Pickling → Lubrication → Cold drawing → Heat treatment → Finishing. Features high dimensional accuracy and smooth surface.
Heat Treatment: Normalizing + Tempering / Quenching and tempering, to eliminate internal stress, refine grains and improve mechanical properties.

7. Quality Inspection & Acceptance
Chemical Composition: Spectroscopic analysis to ensure qualified content of chromium, molybdenum, vanadium and other alloy elements.
Mechanical Properties: Tensile test (tensile strength, yield strength, elongation), V-notch impact test and hardness test (HB/HRC).
Non-destructive Testing: UT (Ultrasonic Testing), MT (Magnetic Particle Testing) and RT (Radiographic Testing) to ensure no cracks or inclusions.
Hydrostatic Test: Test under 1.5 times of design pressure with pressure holding for no less than 30 minutes, no leakage allowed.
Dimensional Tolerance: Outer diameter tolerance ±0.5%, wall thickness tolerance ±10%, length tolerance ±5mm.
8. Packaging & Delivery
Packaging: Plastic end caps + Anti-rust oil + Steel strapping + Woven bag / Moisture-proof film, to prevent rust and collision damage.
Marking: Steel grade, executive standard, specifications, heat number, batch number, production date and manufacturer logo are clearly marked on each pipe.
Delivery Time: 5-7 working days for regular products. Goods can be shipped from Tianjin, Shanghai, Qingdao ports, supporting FOB and CIF trade terms.
9. Selection Guidelines
Working Temperature: Choose 15CrMo for temperature ≤550℃; 12Cr1MoV for 550℃~580℃; P91 for temperature above 600℃.
Working Pressure: Select heavy-wall pipes with P22/P91 for high pressure (≥10MPa); 15CrMo for medium pressure.
Transport Medium: 1Cr5Mo for corrosive medium; 12Cr1MoV for clean steam.
