Checkered Steel Plate Product Specification
1. Product Overview
Chinese Name: Hot Rolled Checkered Steel Plate; English Name: Hot Rolled Checkered Plate / Diamond Plate
Checkered steel plate is manufactured by one-step hot rolling with carbon steel and low-alloy steel as base material. Regular raised patterns are formed on plate surface via patterned roller pressing, with patterns tightly combined with substrate and hard to fall off. The nominal base thickness excludes the height of raised patterns, also named anti-slip plate, stair tread plate or teardrop plate in industry. It is produced in accordance with Chinese National Standard GB/T33974-2017 Hot-rolled Checkered Steel Plates and Strips, and compliant with ASTM A36, SS400 standards for overseas export business.
Production Process
Steel billets go through rough rolling, finish rolling, patterned roller forming, leveling, fixed-length cutting and inspection before warehousing. Uniform metallurgical structure guarantees excellent bending resistance and load-bearing performance.

Regular Grades for Global Trade
Q235B (Mild Carbon Checkered Plate, General Purpose)Chemical Composition (wt%): C≤0.24, Si≤0.35, Mn≤1.40, S≤0.045, P≤0.045Mechanical Index: Yield Strength ≥235MPa, Tensile Strength:375~500MPa, Elongation ≥25%, superior normal-temperature weldability.
Q355B (High Strength Low Alloy Checkered Plate)Yield Strength ≥355MPa, around 40% higher mechanical strength than Q235B, ideal for heavy-load & low-temperature working conditions.
SS400 (JIS Standard for Export)Equivalent to Q235B, widely used for Southeast Asia & Japanese & Korean markets.
Optional Custom Grades
CCS ship-grade checkered plate, weather resistant steel plate; hot-dip galvanized checkered plate available with zinc coating 60~120μm for anti-rust in humid environment.

Theoretical Weight Calculation
Checkered plate is heavier than plain carbon plate of identical thickness: teardrop type +6%~8% weight, diamond type +5%~7% weight.Example: 3.0mm×1250×6000 teardrop checkered plate ≈182kg per piece.

7. Surface Condition & Delivery Status
Delivery Condition: Hot rolled black finish with natural oxide scale for regular stock; customized shot blasting, paint coating or hot-dip galvanized surface available.
Surface Acceptance Standard: Free from crack, lamination and severe peeling; intact full patterns; flatness ≤4mm per meter, camber ≤2mm per 2 meters as per national tolerance.
Packing: Steel strapped bundled with waterproof PE film; each bundle attached with mill test certificate (MTC), complying with GB247 steel plate packaging regulation.
8. Export Trade Terms
MOQ: Bulk order for spot goods, single piece cutting acceptable.
Lead Time: 5-7 working days, cargo shipped from Tianjin Port.
Payment Term: 30% TT prepayment, 70% balance against copy of Bill of Lading.
Supporting Documents: Mill Test Certificate, Packing List, Commercial Invoice, customized inspection certificate on request.

9. Storage Guidance
