Deformed Steel Bar Product Specification

1. Product Introduction

Deformed steel bar, officially named Hot Rolled Ribbed Steel Bar, features longitudinal and transverse ribs on the surface with a round cross-section. Its crescent-shaped transverse ribs deliver excellent adhesion to concrete. It is a key load-bearing material widely used in reinforced concrete structures.

2. Executive Standards

  • National Standard: GB/T 1499.2-2024 (implemented in September 2024, replacing the 2018 version)

  • Seismic-resistant grade: HRB×××E (E stands for seismic resistance)

6. Production Process

  1. Long process: Iron ore → Ironmaking in blast furnace → Steelmaking in converter → Continuous casting billet → Heating (over 1100℃) → Rough rolling, intermediate rolling & finish rolling (rib forming) → Cooling → Fixed-length cutting → Flaw detection & marking → Packaging & warehousing

  2. Short process: Scrap steel → Electric furnace steelmaking → Follow the subsequent procedures of the long process

7. Main Characteristics

9. Packaging & Marking

  • Packaging: Delivered in bundled units, each bundle weighs 2 to 5 tons with firm binding and neat ends.

  • Marking: Designation, diameter and manufacturer logo are rolled on the bar surface. The quality certificate includes heat number, chemical composition, mechanical properties and applicable standards.

10. Quality Inspection Standards

  1. Appearance: No cracks, seams or laps on surface; clear ribs and qualified dimensional tolerance.

  2. Mechanical properties: Yield strength, tensile strength, elongation and cold bending test shall comply with relevant standards.

  3. Chemical composition: Content of carbon, silicon, manganese, sulphur and phosphorus meets standard requirements.

11. Delivery & Storage

  • Delivery condition: Hot rolled, uncoated and delivered in bare bundles.

  • Storage: Store in dry and ventilated areas, keep away from rain and moisture to avoid rusting. Stack by categories to prevent mixing of different products.
