Detailed Description of High Pressure Boiler Tubes
1. Product Overview
High pressure boiler tubes are special seamless steel pipes designed for boilers operating at high pressure and above. They are mainly used to convey high-temperature and high-pressure steam, serving as key pressure-bearing components for power station boilers and industrial boilers, and are known as the lifeline of power station boilers. Working continuously under harsh conditions of 450℃ to 650℃ and pressure above 9.8MPa, the products are required to feature excellent high temperature resistance, high pressure resistance, creep resistance, oxidation and corrosion resistance as well as stable metallographic structure.
2. Executive Standards
Domestic Standard: GB/T 5310-2023 (implemented on April 1, 2024, replacing GB/T 5310-2017), the core standard for high pressure boiler tubes.
International Equivalent Standards: ASTM A335 (P-series), DIN 17175, EN 10216-2, etc.
3. Main Materials & Chemical Composition
We adopt high-quality carbon steel, Cr-Mo alloy steel, Cr-Mo-V alloy steel and martensitic heat-resistant steel. The mainstream grades and chemical composition (wt%) are listed below:

Strict Control of Harmful Elements: Sulfur (S) ≤ 0.015%, Phosphorus (P) ≤ 0.025% to guarantee high material purity and low-temperature toughness.
4. Specification Parameters (In accordance with GB/T 5310)
4.1 Dimension Range
Hot-rolled tubes: Outer diameter 22-530mm, wall thickness 20-70mm.
Cold-drawn / Cold-rolled tubes: Outer diameter 10-108mm, wall thickness 2.0-13.0mm.
Common Specifications: Φ38×4.5, Φ42×5, Φ51×6, Φ60×8, Φ76×10, Φ89×12, Φ108×14, Φ108×14, etc.
4.2 Dimensional Tolerance
Outer diameter deviation: ±1.0% of nominal outer diameter (D).
Wall thickness deviation: ±10% of nominal wall thickness (S).
Ovality: ≤1.0% of outer diameter; Wall thickness unevenness: ≤10% of wall thickness.
4.3 Theoretical Weight
Calculation Formula: W (kg/m) = 0.02466 × (D-S) × S
5. Production Process
Continuous casting round billet → Hot rolling & piercing → (Cold rolling / Cold drawing) → Heat treatment → Finishing → Non-destructive testing → Inspection → Packaging
Smelting: Electric arc furnace + LF refining + Vacuum degassing to reduce impurity content.
Piercing: High-temperature hot rolling piercing to ensure uniform wall thickness and good surface quality.
Heat Treatment (Core Process)
20G: Normalizing (900-930℃, air cooling)
15CrMoG / 12Cr1MoVG: Normalizing + Tempering (Normalizing: 950-980℃; Tempering: 720-760℃)
P91: Normalizing + High-temperature tempering to form stable martensitic structure.
Non-destructive Testing: 100% Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and Eddy Current Testing (ET) to eliminate defects such as cracks and inclusions.

High-temperature Performance: The rupture strength of 12Cr1MoVG reaches no less than 275MPa at 570℃ for 100,000 hours, ensuring long-term structural stability under high temperature.
7. Surface Quality Requirements
No cracks, folds, roll marks, scabs, delaminations, hair lines or other defects on inner and outer surfaces.
The depth of removed defects shall not exceed the negative tolerance of wall thickness, and the remaining wall thickness after cleaning shall not be less than the minimum allowable value.
Smooth surface free of oxide scale and rust; Pipe ends are flat and burr-free.
8. Main Applications
Power Station Boilers: Superheater tubes, reheater tubes, main steam pipes, air guide tubes, economizer tubes.
Industrial Boilers: High-pressure steam boilers, waste heat boilers, municipal solid waste incineration boilers and other pressure-bearing parts.
Other Fields: High-temperature and high-pressure pipelines for petrochemical industry, steam pipelines of conventional island in nuclear power plants, tube bundles for high-pressure reactors in coal chemical industry.
9. Packaging & Marking
Packaging: Bundled packing, each bundle maximum 5 tons. Both ends are fitted with plastic protective caps, with anti-rust and moisture-proof treatment applied.
Marking: Each pipe is printed with standard number, material grade, dimension, heat number, production date and manufacturer logo. The quality certificate covers chemical composition, mechanical properties and non-destructive test reports.
