I. General description:
position:
The Candle filter from Zonel Filtech is a kind of pressure filter, which mainly consists of following accessories:
1).The filter housing/vessel
2).Fluid material feeding port
3).Filtrate outlet port
4).Cake release port
5).Monitoring instrument connection port
6).Rewash spray port
7).Air vent and liquid overflow port
8).Filtrate gathering pipe lines
9).Filtration elements
2. Working principle and working procedures:
1).Working principle:
The fluid material enter into the filter housing through the feeding port, the solid particles be collected at the surface of the filter element, the filtrate go out from the inner core of the filter element, then be gathered to filtrate tank through the filtrate gathering pipe lines; the filter cake will be discharged from the hopper after the drying treatment.
2).The operating procedures:
A.The fluid material feeding;
B.Filter aid /cake layer pre-coating:
The pre-coating works can adopt the special materials, such as Diatomaceous earth, perlite, etc,
these filter aids layer can help to increase the filter efficiency, make the filtrate cleaner;
Mostly, the pre-coating layer comes from the fluid material itself, the particles will be gathered on the surface of the candle filter element, when the filter cake coated on the filter elements, the efficiency will be increased, the filtrate clean grade can be monitored from the observation window on the recycling filtrate pipe, before the filtrate meet the clean grade, the dirty filtrate will be recycled back to the fluid material tank; when the clean grade meet to the requirement, open the filtrate collection valve and close the filtrate recycling pipe valve, then all the filtrate will be go to the filtrate tank, and filtration works continue.
C.Cake drying and cake release:
When the filter cake gathering on the surface of the filter element and become thicker and thicker, the resistance in the filter housing will be higher and higher, when the differential pressure up the to certain value set (sometimes operator can monitor by the filtrate flow rate as well), then the feeding port won’t feed, instead, the rest fluid will be drain out; then the air will be pumped in from feeding port, the water/moisture in filter cake will be blown out, when the time meet the set value (caked dried), the pump stop work;
After above procedures, the reverse air pumped in from the filtrate gathering pipe, the filter cake drop to the hopper; then open the valve at the bottom of the hopper to discharge the cake out;
D.Filter element wash:
When the cake discharged completely, close the hopper valve, pump the filtrate or clean fluid from the filtrate gather pipe, the reverse flow will help to clean the candle filter elements.
After this work, the the filtration go to next working period/circle.

III. Properties of the candle filter from ZONEL FILTECH:
1. The candle filters from Zonel Filtech with big flow volume, can filter directly, or pre-coated first with different filter aid to improve the filter efficiency, widely used for solid particles removal, cake recycling, liquid concentrating applications, etc.
2. The candle filter can be designed with PLC controlled, the filter procedures like the so fluid material feeding, pre-filtration, filtering, raffinate draining, reverse blow cake release, cake discharge and so on will be arranged automatically.
3. Suitable for high precision filtering (0.2 to 100 micron, special precision can be customized), can handle the high solid particles content fluid (max 5%) and high-sticky fluid filtration.
4. The filter element/ filter candles distance is adjustable according to the cake thickness requested.
5. The filter housing of the candle filter is highly sealed, suitable for corrosive or some dangerous solution treatment.
6. The candle filter with optimistic filter cake drying design, can meet various moisture content requirements from different applications.
