Silicon steel coil, also known as electrical steel or cold-rolled silicon steel, is a soft magnetic iron-silicon alloy containing 0.5%–4.5% silicon. It is primarily used to manufacture cores for motors, transformers, and inductors. The key performance requirements are low core loss (iron loss) and high magnetic permeability. Common grades include: 50W800, 50W1300, 35W270, 35W440, B50A470, B35A210, 23Q110, etc. In these designations, W stands for Non-Oriented (NO), while Q or R stands for Grain-Oriented (GO). Grain-oriented silicon steel (e.g., 23Q110) offers excellent magnetic properties along the rolling direction and is ideal for transformers. Non-oriented silicon steel (e.g., 50W1300) is isotropic and suitable for rotating machines.
