Steel Sheet Pile Product Detailed Description
1. Product Definition
Steel Sheet Pile is a kind of hot-rolled / cold-formed section steel with interlocking clutches. It forms a continuous and closed soil-retaining and water-stopping wall through interlocking connection of clutches, widely used in temporary and permanent projects such as foundation pit support, cofferdam, wharf and flood control.
2. Product Classification
By Production Process
Hot-rolled Steel Sheet Pile: Formed by high-temperature rolling (≥1000℃). It features high strength, precise clutch and good durability, suitable for deep foundation pits, high water pressure and permanent engineering projects.
Cold-formed Steel Sheet Pile: Cold-formed from steel strips, with low cost and flexible section size, applicable to shallow foundation pits and temporary support works.
By Section Shape
U-type (Larsen Type): The mainstream type occupying over 90% of the market, with good bending resistance and easy installation. Common specification: SP-U400×170×15.5 (Larsen Type Ⅳ).
Z-type: High section modulus, ideal for deep excavation and heavy load conditions with clutches arranged on the outer flange.
Straight Web Type: Excellent water tightness and high rigidity, mainly used for impermeable walls and dock engineering.
3. Material & Mechanical Properties
Common Steel Grades
Q235B: Low carbon steel, yield strength ≥235MPa. Cost-effective and good toughness, the first choice for temporary support.
Q345B / S355GP: Low alloy high strength steel, yield strength ≥345MPa. Featured with high strength and corrosion resistance, suitable for deep foundation pits and water conservancy projects.
SY295 / SY390: Special steel grade with high toughness and fatigue resistance, applied to port and wharf heavy-load engineering.
Surface Treatment
Black steel (standard), anti-rust paint coating, hot-dip galvanizing (anti-corrosion service life ≥ 20 years).

Length: Standard 6m, 9m, 12m, 15m, 18m; customized maximum length up to 24m.
Size (Width×Height×Thickness/mm):
SP-U400×125×13: Effective width 400mm, height 125mm, thickness 13mm, theoretical weight ≈ 50kg/m.
SP-U400×170×15.5 (Larsen Type Ⅳ): Effective width 400mm, height 170mm, thickness 15.5mm, theoretical weight ≈ 61.8kg/m.
SP-U500×200×20: Effective width 500mm, height 200mm, thickness 20mm, theoretical weight ≈ 76kg/m.
Clutch Type: Single-side / double-side interlocking clutch, engagement gap ≤ 3mm, excellent water stop and anti-seepage performance.
5. Core Advantages
Integrated soil retaining and water stopping: Closed interlocking clutches ensure superior water tightness, no additional impermeable curtain required.
High strength and long service life: Hot-rolled steel yield strength 235–420MPa, high deformation and corrosion resistance, reusable more than 20 times.
Fast construction: Constructed by vibratory hammer or static pile driver, low noise and high efficiency; piling for 6–12m pile takes less than 10 minutes per piece.

Strong adaptability: Suitable for soft soil, sand, clay and backfill soil; unsupported foundation pit depth ≤7m, 7–12m with bracing support.
6. Application Scope
Municipal Engineering: Subway foundation pit, underground pipe gallery, pumping station support.
Water Conservancy Engineering: River revetment, flood dike, dock, water gate cofferdam.
Port & Wharf: Quay wall, fender, caisson, breakwater.
Construction Engineering: Deep foundation pit of high-rise buildings, basement support, temporary retaining wall.
Emergency Rescue: Landslide treatment, foundation pit collapse repair, flood control cofferdam.
7. Installation & Acceptance Standard
Construction Equipment: Vibratory hammer (mainstream), static pile driver (environmental type), pile driving machine.
Construction Process: Surveying & setting out → Guide frame installation → Steel sheet pile positioning → Pile driving → Bracing installation → Excavation → (Backfilling) → Pile pulling.
Acceptance Criteria:
Verticality deviation: ≤1% of pile length.
Clutch engagement: Tight connection without leakage, gap ≤3mm.
Pile top elevation deviation: ±50mm.
8. Packaging & Delivery
Packaging: Bundled (10–20 pieces per bundle), end protection, wrapped with anti-rust film.
Delivery Time: 6–15 days for standard order, 5–7 days for urgent order;supporting FOB / CIF / CFR trade terms.
9. Quality Assurance
Executive Standards: JG/T 196—2018, GB/T 20933—2007.
Certificates: Mill test certificate, factory qualification certificate, third-party inspection report (SGS / CE).
10. Selection Suggestion
Shallow Foundation Pit (≤5m): Cold-formed U-type, Q235B, length 6–9m, optimal cost performance.
Deep Foundation Pit (5–12m): Hot-rolled U-type, Q345B, length 12–15m, equipped with 2–3 layers of bracing.
High Water Pressure / Permanent Project: Hot-rolled Z-type, S355GP, length 15–18m, hot-dip galvanized anti-corrosion treatment。
