Galvanized Steel Pipe Detailed Product Description
1. Product Definition
Galvanized Steel Pipe is a carbon steel pipe coated with a layer of zinc on the surface to enhance anti-corrosion and rust-proof performance. It is divided into Hot-dip Galvanized Pipe and Electro-galvanized Pipe according to production technology, and hot-dip galvanized pipe is the mainstream for engineering applications.
2. Material & Execution Standard
Base material: Low carbon steel Q195 / Q215 / Q235B, complying with GB/T 700 standard.
Hot-dip galvanized pipe: Implement standard GB/T 3091-2015 (Low-pressure Fluid Transportation Steel Pipe).
International standards: ASTM A53, JIS G3442 and other mainstream international specifications.
3. Production Process (Hot-dip Galvanizing)
Pickling: Remove surface oxide scale and rust stains.
Cleaning: Neutralize and clean with ammonium chloride and zinc chloride solution.
Hot-dip Galvanizing: Immerse the pipe in molten zinc liquid at about 450℃ to form a zinc-iron alloy layer and pure zinc protective layer.
Cooling, passivation, quality inspection and warehousing.
Electro-galvanized pipe features thin zinc layer (10–50 g/m²), poor adhesion and easy peeling off. It is prohibited by the housing and urban-rural development department for water supply and gas pipeline projects.

Conventional Length: 6 meters per piece, customized length from 3m to 12m is available.

Zinc Coating Weight: ≥275 g/m² (national standard); ≥400 g/m² is recommended for outdoor use.
Pressure Bearing Capacity: Ordinary type 1.6 MPa; reinforced type 2.5–3.0 MPa.

Excellent Corrosion Resistance: Adopt sacrificial anode protection of zinc layer, service life up to 20–30 years in conventional environment.

Convenient Connection: Suitable for thread connection, welding, grooved connection and flange connection.
Cost-Effective: Lower price than stainless steel pipe, better strength and durability than plastic pipe.

Fire Protection System: Sprinkler and fire hydrant pipeline (hot-dip galvanized pipe is the first choice).
Construction Water Supply & Drainage: Domestic water supply, rainwater and sewage pipeline.
Gas Transportation: Low-pressure natural gas and coal gas transmission pipeline.
HVAC System: Cooling water, steam and heating pipeline.
Municipal Engineering: Buried pipeline in residential areas, road guardrail and street lamp pole.
Agriculture & Industry: Greenhouse frame, irrigation, ventilation and dust removal pipeline.
7. Connection Methods
Thread Connection: Applied to DN15–DN50, widely used in home decoration and small-caliber projects.
Grooved Connection: Applied to DN65–DN200, featured with fast installation for fire protection and municipal engineering.
Welding Connection: Suitable for large-caliber and high-pressure occasions with good sealing performance and low cost.
Flange Connection: Used for high-pressure occasions and pipelines requiring frequent disassembly, matched with galvanized flange.
8. Quality Inspection Standard
Appearance: Smooth surface, no missing galvanization, peeling or bulging, uniform silver-gray color.
Zinc Layer Thickness: ≥85 μm for hot-dip galvanized pipe, no red discoloration after 5 times of copper sulfate test.
Mechanical Test: Tensile test, flattening test and bending test (DN≤50mm, no crack after 90° bending).
Hydrostatic Pressure Test: Keep pressure at 2.5 MPa for 15 seconds without leakage.
9. Packaging & Delivery
Packaging: 6 meters per piece, both ends with plastic end caps, bundled in units of 50–100 pieces.
Shipping: Delivery from Tianjin Port & Sihang Warehouse, delivery cycle 5–7 working days.
