Steel Sheet Pile Detailed Product Description

1. Product Definition

Steel sheet pile is a kind of hot-rolled / cold-formed section steel with interlocks. It interlocks with each other through the lock mouths to form a continuous soil-retaining and water-retaining enclosure wall, widely applied in temporary or permanent supporting projects such as foundation pits and cofferdams, docks.

2. Main Classification

1. By Production Process

  • Hot-rolled Steel Sheet Pile: Formed by high-temperature rolling, featuring uniform material, high strength (Q355/Q420), precise lock mouth and good durability. Suitable for deep water, deep foundation pits and permanent projects.

  • Cold-formed Steel Sheet Pile: Cold-formed from thin steel plates with low cost and flexible section. It is applicable to shallow foundation pits and temporary projects, with slightly lower strength and durability.

2. By Section Shape

  • U-type (Larssen Type): The most common type with high cost performance; effective width 400–600mm, height 170–210mm; suitable for foundation pits of 6–9m and river revetments.

  • Z-type: With centered lock mouth and strong bending resistance, ideal for deep foundation pits over 10m, port docks and marine engineering.

  • Straight Type (Flat Plate Type): Simple structure with weak bending resistance, used for shallow trenches, pipe trenches and light supporting works.

3. Material & Mechanical Properties

  • Common Grades: Q235B, Q355B (Q345B), Q390B, Q420B; Imported grades: SY295, SY390, S355GP.

  • Yield Strength: 235–420MPa; Tensile Strength: 370–600MPa; Elongation: ≥18%, ensuring good cold bending and welding performance.

7. Construction & Storage

  • Stacking & Storage: Store on flat and dry site, layered stacking (no more than 5 layers), avoid direct sunlight and rain to prevent deformation and rust.
