Steel Sheet & Plate & Ship Steel Plate,Grade A/B/D/E
Detailed Description of Shipbuilding Steel Plate
1. Product Classification and Grades
Ordinary Strength Ship Plate (Yield Strength ≥ 235MPa)
CCSA (Grade A): Impact test at 20℃, suitable for inland vessels, general offshore structures and superstructures.
CCSB (Grade B): Impact test at 0℃, suitable for offshore vessels and ordinary hull structures.
CCSD (Grade D): Impact test at -20℃ (≥34J), applied to cold sea areas and main hull structures.
CCSE (Grade E): Impact test at -40℃ (≥34J), used for extremely cold regions and key parts of icebreakers.
High Strength Ship Plate (3 Strength Grades, 4 Quality Grades)
| Strength Grade | Yield Strength | Quality Grade (Impact Temperature) | Typical Grades |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grade 32 | ≥315MPa | A(20℃)/D(-20℃)/E(-40℃)/F(-60℃) | AH32, DH32, EH32, FH32 |
| Grade 36 | ≥355MPa | A(20℃)/D(-20℃)/E(-40℃)/F(-60℃) | AH36, DH36, EH36, FH36 |
| Grade 40 | ≥390MPa | A(20℃)/D(-20℃)/E(-40℃)/F(-60℃) | AH40, DH40, EH40, FH40 |
2. Core Technical Parameters (GB/T 712-2022)
Chemical Composition (wt%)
Carbon (C): ≤0.18 (Control welding hardness)
Manganese (Mn): 0.70-1.20 (Strengthen matrix structure)
Sulfur (S) / Phosphorus (P): ≤0.035 (Reduce cold brittleness)
Micro-alloy Elements: Nb, V, Ti (Grain refinement and toughness improvement)
Mechanical Properties (Room Temperature)
Ordinary strength: Yield strength ≥235MPa, Tensile strength 400-520MPa, Elongation ≥22%.
AH36/EH36: Yield strength ≥355MPa, Tensile strength 490-620MPa, Elongation ≥21%.
Low-temperature Impact: Grade D ≥34J at -20℃; Grade E ≥34J at -40℃; Grade F ≥34J at -60℃.
Specification Range
Thickness: 6-100mm (Common size: 8-50mm)
Width: 1500-3000mm
Length: 6000-12000mm, custom fixed length available
3. Executive Standards and Certification
Domestic Standard: GB/T 712-2022 Structural Steel for Ship and Offshore Engineering.
International Certification: Certified by CCS, ABS, BV, DNV-GL, LR and other major classification societies, globally applicable.
Delivery Condition: Hot rolled, Normalized, TMCP (Thermo Mechanical Control Process, mainstream for high strength grades).
4. Core Characteristics
High strength and high toughness: Yield strength 235-500MPa, excellent low-temperature brittle fracture resistance, suitable for polar and deep-sea environments.
Excellent weldability: Carbon equivalent ≤0.36%, stable welding heat-affected zone, adaptable to complex hull welding processes.
Corrosion resistance: Adopting special deoxidation and alloy design, resistant to seawater and atmospheric corrosion, extending the service life of hulls.
High fatigue performance: High purity and uniform microstructure, resistant to alternating loads, suitable for long-term navigation of ships.
5. Application Scenarios
Shipbuilding
Bulk Carrier / Container Ship: Main hull, deck, bulkhead.
Oil Tanker / Chemical Tanker: Hull structure and tank reinforcement area (mainly EH36/FH36).
Icebreaker / Polar Ship: Grade E/F steel plate, resisting ice pressure and low-temperature brittle fracture.
Inland Vessel / Fishing Boat: Grade A/B steel plate, cost-effective and meeting conventional demands.
Offshore Engineering
Offshore Platform: Jacket, platform deck and supporting structure.
Subsea Pipeline: Reinforcement layer and riser structure for shallow and deep-sea pipelines.
FPSO: Hull modules and storage tank structures.
6. Production and Delivery
Main Manufacturers: Wugang, Ansteel, Baosteel, Nangang, all certified by CCS.
Quality Assurance: Ultrasonic testing (UT) for each plate, complying with classification society non-destructive testing standards.
Delivery Cycle: 5-7 days for conventional specifications.
Packaging: Anti-rust paint plus waterproof packaging; supplied with official mill certificates including chemical composition, mechanical properties and ultrasonic test reports.
7. Purchase Suggestions
Select grade according to navigation area: Grade A/B for inland rivers; Grade D for offshore; Grade E/F for extremely cold and deep-sea areas.
Select strength according to ship type: Ordinary strength for regular ships; AH36/EH36 for large and special vessels; EH40/FH40 for polar and high-pressure environments.
Priority to certification: Products must be equipped with CCS and international classification society certifications to avoid invalid ship entry inspection.
