I. Product Overview
Steel wire is a metal wire rod processed through multiple precision processes such as drawing, annealing, galvanizing, quenching and tempering with high-quality steel as raw material. II. Product Classification and Core Characteristics
According to the differences in material, surface treatment, processing technology and application, steel wire products can be divided into the following categories. Each type of product has clear characteristics and applicable scenarios, facilitating customers to select products accurately:
(1) Classification by Material
High Carbon Steel Wire: Processed from high-carbon steel with a carbon content between 0.60% and 1.20%. It has high tensile strength (≥1200MPa), high hardness and moderate toughness. It is mainly used in the manufacture of springs, steel wire ropes, nails, cutting tools, etc., and is suitable for scenarios requiring high strength.
Low Carbon Steel Wire: With a carbon content ≤0.25%, it is soft, highly plastic, easy to bend and weld, and has moderate tensile strength (≥300MPa). Its surface can be galvanized, PVC-coated and other treatments. It is mainly used for binding, weaving, building binding, agricultural fencing and other scenarios.
(2) Classification by Surface Treatment
Galvanized Steel Wire: There are two processes: hot-dip galvanizing and electro-galvanizing. The surface is covered with a uniform zinc layer, which has excellent anti-rust performance. Its service life is 3-5 times longer than that of ordinary black steel wire. It is widely used in construction, agricultural fencing, wire mesh weaving, communication cable armoring and other scenarios. Hot-dip galvanized steel wire has a thicker zinc layer (≥80g/m²) and better anti-rust effect; electro-galvanized steel wire has a thinner zinc layer and a smoother surface, which is suitable for scenarios with higher requirements on appearance.
Black Steel Wire: No surface galvanizing treatment is performed, and the surface is the natural color of steel. It has low cost and good toughness, but its anti-rust performance is general. It is mainly used in indoor dry environments, temporary binding, nail making and other scenarios. Attention should be paid to moisture and rust prevention during use.
Bright Steel Wire: Processed through precision drawing and polishing, it has a smooth and bright surface, high dimensional accuracy and no oxide layer. It is mainly used in spring manufacturing, precision instrument accessories, medical equipment and other fields requiring high surface quality and dimensional accuracy.
PVC Coated Steel Wire: A layer of PVC, PE and other plastic layers is coated on the surface of the steel wire, which has both the strength of steel wire and the corrosion resistance and insulation performance of plastic. The color can be customized (black, white, green, etc.). It is mainly used in agricultural fencing, garden protection, indoor decoration and other scenarios to avoid scratches or corrosion caused by metal materials.
(3) Classification by Processing Technology
Cold Drawn Steel Wire: Processed by cold drawing process without heating, it has high dimensional accuracy, smooth surface and high tensile strength. It is widely used in various industrial and construction scenarios and is one of the most commonly used steel wire processing technologies.
Annealed Steel Wire: After annealing treatment, it reduces the hardness of steel, improves plasticity and toughness, and is easy to bend and process. It is mainly used in binding, weaving, nail making and other scenarios requiring high flexibility.
Oil Quenched & Tempered Steel Wire: After double processes of oil quenching and tempering, it has high strength, good toughness and excellent fatigue performance. It is mainly used in the manufacture of high-strength springs, steel wire ropes, mechanical accessories, etc., and is suitable for scenarios under long-term repeated loads.
(4) Classification by Application
Construction Steel Wire: Including prestressed steel wire, binding steel wire, steel wire for construction mesh, etc. It has high strength and good stability. It is used in concrete prestressed structures, building binding, wall reinforcement, etc., to ensure the stability and safety of the building structure.
Industrial Steel Wire: Including spring steel wire, cutting steel wire, welding wire, steel cord, steel strand, etc. It is suitable for machinery manufacturing, automobile industry, metallurgy, chemical industry and other fields to meet the production and operation needs of various industrial equipment.

VI. Usage and Storage Precautions
(1) Usage Precautions
Before use, select the appropriate material and specification of steel wire according to the scenario to avoid potential safety hazards or insufficient performance caused by inconsistent specifications.
High carbon steel wire has high hardness, so avoid excessive bending during use to prevent breakage; low carbon steel wire is highly plastic and can be bent according to needs, but avoid repeated bending to affect the service life.
Avoid scratching the surface of galvanized steel wire and PVC coated steel wire with sharp objects to prevent damage to the zinc layer and plastic layer, leading to rust; avoid contact of steel wire with strong acid and alkali environments to prevent corrosion.
If cracks, rust, broken wires and other defects are found in the steel wire during use, stop using it immediately and replace it with qualified products to avoid safety accidents.
When cutting steel wire, use professional cutting tools to ensure a flat cut and avoid burrs, which may scratch hands or affect subsequent use.
(2) Storage Precautions
Steel wire should be stored in a dry, ventilated and cool warehouse to avoid moisture, rain and sun exposure to prevent rust; storage of strong acids, strong alkalis and other corrosive substances is prohibited in the warehouse.
Steel wire should be placed neatly during storage to avoid extrusion and collision, which may cause deformation and breakage of steel wire; steel wires of different materials and specifications should be stored separately with clear labels for easy access.
Unused steel wire should be sealed and packaged in time to prevent moisture and oxidation; if slight rust appears on the surface of galvanized steel wire and PVC coated steel wire, it can be lightly polished with sandpaper before use, and it is prohibited to use when there is severe rust.
Storage period: Under proper storage conditions, the shelf life of ordinary black steel wire is 6 months, and the shelf life of galvanized steel wire and PVC coated steel wire is 12-24 months. Products beyond the shelf life need to be re-tested and can be used only if they are qualified.
