Steel Pipe Product Detailed Description


1. Product Overview


Steel pipe is a hollow cylindrical long steel product, manufactured through professional processes such as hot rolling, cold drawing, and welding. It features hollow section, light dead weight, high structural strength, good pressure resistance and strong processability, which is a key basic material widely used in fluid transportation, construction engineering, machinery manufacturing, petrochemical, agricultural infrastructure and other industries. It can bear liquid/gas transportation and structural bearing demands, and can be customized in size, processing and surface treatment to meet different application scenarios.


2. Product Classification


2.1 By Production Process


1. Seamless Steel Pipe

Produced from solid steel billet through perforation, hot rolling, cold drawing or cold rolling, without welding seam on the pipe body. It features uniform wall thickness, high pressure resistance, good compactness and high mechanical strength, suitable for high-pressure fluid transportation and mechanical structural parts with high performance requirements.


2. Welded Steel Pipe

Formed by rolling steel strip/steel plate into cylindrical shape and welding longitudinally or spirally, with high production efficiency and stable size. It is divided into the following two categories according to welding process:


• ERW Steel Pipe (Electric Resistance Welded Pipe): High welding precision, smooth pipe body, suitable for general fluid transportation and construction structures.


• Spiral Welded Steel Pipe: Large diameter and thick wall thickness, strong bearing capacity, mainly used for large-scale fluid transportation and pile foundation engineering.


2.2 By Pipe Shape


1. Round Steel Pipe: Conventional cylindrical shape, uniform stress, good fluidity, the most widely used type.


2. Square Steel Pipe: Square cross-section, neat appearance, easy for connection and installation, widely used in construction structures and brackets.


3. Rectangular Steel Pipe: Rectangular cross-section, strong bending resistance, suitable for building frames, mechanical equipment shells.


2.3 By Surface Treatment


1. Black Steel Pipe: Without surface anti-corrosion treatment, in original rolling state, economical and practical, suitable for short-term use or internal structural parts.


2. Hot Dip Galvanized Steel Pipe: Coated with thick zinc layer on the surface through hot dip galvanizing process, with excellent anti-rust and anti-corrosion performance, long service life, suitable for outdoor and humid environments.


3. Painted/Anti-Rust Coated Steel Pipe: Sprayed with anti-rust paint or protective coating on the surface, enhancing corrosion resistance, low cost, suitable for general engineering and transportation.


4. Threaded Steel Pipe: Threaded processing at both ends of the pipe, convenient for threaded connection, widely used in plumbing, fire protection and pipeline systems.

6. Packaging & Transportation

2. Product Marking: Each bundle is attached with a label, marking product specification, material, standard, length, manufacturer and other information for inspection.


3. Transportation & Storage: Suitable for road, railway and sea transportation; store in dry and ventilated warehouse, avoid open-air stacking and rain immersion, keep away from strong corrosive substances.
