1. Product Overview
Flat steel is a long-strip steel product with a rectangular cross-section and moderate width-to-thickness ratio, belonging to the simple section category of section steel. It is mainly produced by hot rolling, cold rolling or finishing processes, featuring high dimensional accuracy, good surface finish, diverse specifications and flexible supply.
As one of the basic materials for industrial manufacturing and engineering construction, flat steel is widely used in welded structural parts, mechanical processing, architectural decoration, guardrails, fences and customized profiles. It can be cut to fixed length, bent or punched according to customer requirements, making it an ideal material for lightweight and low-cost manufacturing.

2.1 By Production Process
1. Hot Rolled Flat Steel
Made from steel billets through high-temperature rolling. It has a raw metal surface, solid structure, high strength, good toughness and economical cost. Suitable for structural parts and industrial applications with general surface finish requirements and high bearing capacity demands.
2. Cold Rolled Flat Steel
Further processed on the basis of hot rolled flat steel via cold rolling. It features smooth surface, high dimensional accuracy and uniform thickness. Widely used in precision manufacturing, home appliance shells, decorative parts and products requiring fine processing.
3. Cold Drawn Flat Steel
Further stretched through cold drawing process, with higher dimensional accuracy, better surface roughness and denser metal structure, improving strength and hardness. Mostly used for machining parts with strict tolerance requirements.
2.2 By Surface Treatment
1. Black Surface Flat Steel
Without surface treatment, retaining the original rolling state with the lowest cost. Suitable for internal structural parts or semi-finished products to be painted or electroplated later.
2. Galvanized Flat Steel
Divided into hot-dip galvanized and electro-galvanized types. It has excellent anti-rust and anti-corrosion performance with bright appearance, widely used in outdoor engineering, power grounding, guardrails and humid environments.
3. Painted / PVC Coated Flat Steel
Coated with colored coating or plastic layer on the surface, with strong decoration and good weather resistance. Suitable for garden guardrails, flower bed fences, stair handrails and other scenes with high aesthetic requirements.

6. Packaging & Transportation
1. Packaging Method
• Bundling: Fastened with steel strips, neatly stacked for hoisting and transportation.
• Pallet packaging: Small or precision flat steel placed on wooden/plastic pallets, covered with waterproof film, suitable for container transportation.
• Marking: Each bundle is labeled with specification (thickness × width), material, grade, net weight, manufacturer and standard.
2. Transport & Storage
Suitable for road, railway and sea transportation. Avoid severe impact and extrusion during transportation to prevent bending and deformation.
Store in dry and ventilated warehouse, avoid open-air stacking and rain, keep away from corrosive substances to prevent rust.
7. Notes
1. For long-term outdoor use or highly corrosive environment, galvanized flat steel is preferred; indoor structural parts can use ordinary hot rolled flat steel to control cost.
2. Clean surface oil and oxide scale before welding to ensure welding quality; after cutting or drilling, anti-rust treatment (such as painting) is recommended for cross-sections to extend service life.
3. For precision processing, confirm the required tolerance grade. Cold rolled / cold drawn flat steel has higher precision and is more suitable for assembly with strict size requirements.
