   Band-pass filters only allow light within a narrow wavelength range to pass through. The common type is the Fabry-Perot filter, which is essentially a Fabry-Perot etalon (see Fabry-Perot interferometer). The specific structure is as follows: a semi-transparent metal layer is coated on a glass substrate, followed by a magnesium fluoride spacer layer, and then another semi-transparent metal layer. The two metal layers form the two parallel plates of the Fabry-Perot etalon. When the spacing between the two poles is of the same order of magnitude as the wavelength, the interference peaks of different wavelengths in the transmitted light are well separated. Other absorption-type filters can be used to filter out the light that is not allowed to pass through, thus obtaining a band-pass filter with a narrow passband. The passband width of this filter is much narrower than that of ordinary absorption-type filters. In addition, there are all-dielectric Fabry-Perot filters, and two typical structures are gHLHLLHLH a and g HLHL HH LHLH a1. As required, the passband of the band-pass filter can range from the infrared to the ultraviolet. In the visible light region, this type of filter can be used in color TV cameras to separate images into different colors; in the infrared region, it is commonly used in carbon dioxide lasers, missile guidance systems, and satellite sensors, etc.
