I. Overview

WOODWARD 5466-1002 is a power supply module, with its core positioning as the "Dual-slot Power Supply Core Unit for Micronet™ Plus System". Designed specifically for the control systems of power equipment such as diesel engines, gas engines, and steam turbines, this module serves as a supporting power supply component for Micronet™ Plus series controllers. It provides stable power supply with a wide input range of 110VAC/125VDC, undertaking key functions including system core power supply, fault monitoring, and status feedback. Integrated with multiple safety protection and anti-interference designs, it has obtained the Safety Integrity Level (SIL) certification as well as a number of international standard certifications such as ATEX, LVD, and EMC. It is a core power supply device that ensures the continuous and stable operation of control systems in harsh industrial scenarios such as petrochemicals, marine power, and generator sets.

Adopting a rack-mounted sealed structure design, the module is suitable for installation in system cabinets, with a total weight of 22kg including the cabinet. It can operate in a wide temperature range of -40℃~105℃ (-40°F~221°F), complying with the standards of classification societies such as CSA, ABS, DNV and industrial safety specifications. It can effectively resist the impacts of on-site surges, electromagnetic interference, severe vibration, and temperature-humidity fluctuations. Equipped with four-channel status indicator LEDs, it supports fault self-diagnosis and visual alarm functions. It is highly compatible with Micronet™ Plus series control systems, featuring convenient installation and operation & maintenance. It can be seamlessly integrated into existing power control networks, providing reliable power supply support for core control units.

II. Core Features

  • Wide-range Input and Stable Power Supply: Supporting dual-mode input of 110VAC/125VDC, it is adaptable to power supply scenarios in different industrial sites. Specifically designed for dual-slot racks, it can provide continuous and stable working power for Micronet™ Plus controllers, ensuring the uninterrupted operation of core control units and meeting the 24-hour continuous operation requirements of power equipment.

  • Multiple International Certifications and Safety Compliance: It has obtained ATEX explosion-proof certification, LVD Low Voltage Directive certification, EMC Electromagnetic Compatibility certification, certifications from classification societies including CSA, ABS, DNV, as well as SIL Safety Integrity Level certification. Fully complying with the safety operation specifications for harsh scenarios such as flammable and explosive environments and marine applications, it has strong operational compliance.

  • Industrial-grade Environmental Tolerance: Adopting a sealed structure with high protection level, it can withstand a wide temperature range of -40℃~105℃ and a relative humidity of 5%~95% (non-condensing), with an operating noise of less than 70dBA. It has excellent dustproof, anti-vibration, corrosion-resistant, and high-temperature resistant capabilities, suitable for complex working conditions such as marine engine rooms and industrial machine rooms.

  • Visual Fault Diagnosis and Protection: The front panel is equipped with four-channel LED indicators, corresponding to over-temperature, input fault, power fault, and normal operating status respectively. In case of faults, it accurately feeds back the fault type through constant-on or flashing modes, facilitating quick troubleshooting. Built-in over-temperature, over-voltage, and over-current protection mechanisms improve operational reliability.

  • Easy Integration and Standardized Installation: Suitable for installation in Micronet™ Plus system cabinets, the power supply must be disconnected during installation to ensure that the edge of the circuit board is accurately aligned with the card slot, guaranteeing reliable contact with the main board and slot. It is compatible with the specifications of Woodward Technical Manual 26166v2, featuring a standardized installation process that reduces on-site construction difficulty.

IV. Working Principle and Application Logic

The WOODWARD 5466-1002 power supply module provides reliable power supply for the Micronet™ Plus control system based on the closed-loop working logic of "wide-voltage input - rectification and filtering - regulated output - status monitoring". Its core working process is as follows:

Phase 1: Wide-voltage Input and Circuit DockingThe module is connected to 110VAC or 125VDC power supply through a dedicated interface. During installation, it is necessary to ensure that the circuit board is accurately aligned with the cabinet card slot to achieve reliable contact with the system main board and slot. The fool-proof design prevents incorrect insertion, and the power-off operation during installation can prevent component damage caused by short circuits.

Phase 2: Rectification, Voltage Regulation and Power Supply OutputThe accessed AC or DC power is processed by the built-in rectification and filtering circuit to filter out voltage ripples and transient interference. The voltage regulator module converts the voltage into standardized power required by the control system, providing stable power supply for the core unit of the Micronet™ Plus controller and ensuring the normal operation of the control logic.

Phase 3: Real-time Monitoring and Fault AlarmThe module monitors the input power status, its own operating temperature and output current in real time, capturing abnormal signals through built-in sensors. When over-temperature, abnormal input voltage, power failure and other conditions are detected, the corresponding LED indicator triggers constant-on or flashing alarm, and simultaneously feeds back the fault signal to the control system to facilitate rapid response.

Phase 4: System Collaboration and Safety AssuranceUnder normal working conditions, the "OK" LED indicator remains on, continuously supplying power to the control system. When a fault occurs, the module cuts off or limits the output through protection mechanisms to avoid the spread of faults to the core control unit. Working collaboratively with the Micronet™ Plus system, it ensures that the control functions of power equipment such as speed regulation and interlocking are not affected by power supply fluctuations, guaranteeing the safe and stable operation of the equipment.
