The rhombic WNMG insert (especially models WNMG080404, 080408, etc.) is primarily used in the following applications:
External and internal turning:
It is the main tool for machining the outer diameter and inner bore of shaft and sleeve parts.
Due to its rounded cutting edge (R0.8) design, it is particularly suitable for profile turning (following curves), and can closely conform to the curved surface of the workpiece.
1) Intermittent cutting and unstable working conditions:
This is a strong point of the rhombic insert. Its "rhombic" structure provides a larger support area and cutting edge strength than ordinary triangular or rhombic inserts.
If your machine tool has average rigidity, or the workpiece clamping is prone to vibration, using this insert can effectively reduce chipping and improve machining safety.
The "nemesis" of difficult-to-machine materials:
2) Stainless steel machining: Rhombic inserts, usually combined with specialized chip breakers (such as TP3501 grade), are a powerful tool for machining stainless steel (especially austenitic stainless steel), as they can solve the problems of "tool sticking" and "work hardening" in stainless steel machining.
3) Steel and alloy steel: Whether it's ordinary carbon steel (such as 45# steel) or high-strength alloy steel (such as 42CrMo), it can handle the job.
4) High-temperature alloys and hardened steel: Rhombic inserts made of CBN (cubic boron nitride) or ceramic materials can be used for high-speed cutting of extremely hard hardened steel parts.
