The OxiTop measurement system is based on the measurement of pressure in a closed system: The organic matter in the sample consumes oxygen and produces CO2. The CO2 is absorbed by NaOH, and the resulting pressure vacuum is measured and converted into BOD readings in mg/l BOD. By using different sample volumes, the measurement range is 4,000 mg/l. The measuring head OxiTop (distinguished by green and yellow for influent and effluent) has an automatic temperature compensation function: When the sample temperature is too low, the instrument will delay the measurement until the temperature stabilizes to a certain value. The delay time can be up to 3.5 hours at maximum and 0.5 hours at minimum.
Five measurement values are automatically stored (one per day), so there is no need to read the values every day because the instrument will save the daily measurement values. This means you can start the measurement on the weekend without the need for dedicated personnel to monitor it, and you can also check the measurement results (BOD7) after 7 days.
Two batteries, with a normal service life of up to 1 year.
