RX8025 High-precision Real-time Clock Module

The RX8025 series of real-time clock modules (including models such as RX8025 and RX8025SA) are produced by Seiko Epson. It is a high-precision clock chip based on CMOS technology, with a built-in 32.768kHz crystal oscillator, supporting the I²C interface, and is widely used in scenarios that require accurate timekeeping.‌

‌High-precision features:‌ The core precision of this module depends on the built-in 32.768kHz crystal oscillator. At 25°C, the precision can reach ±5×10⁻⁶ (i.e., ±5ppm), and it supports arbitrary calibration through the internal precision adjustment circuit to compensate for the crystal oscillator deviation. However, the standard models (such as RX8025SA) do not have the temperature compensation function, and the long-term precision may be affected by temperature changes. If higher stability is required, models with temperature compensation (such as RX8025SA-T) can be selected.‌

‌Power consumption performance:‌ The typical standby current is 0.3μA (powered by 3.3V), and it has a wide operating voltage range (1.7V~5.5V), making it suitable for battery-powered devices. The low power consumption is due to the fixed-voltage driving of the internal oscillation circuit, which reduces the impact of voltage fluctuations on power consumption.‌

‌Reliability and stability:‌ The module integrates the functions of oscillation stop detection and power supply voltage monitoring, which can trigger an interrupt in case of crystal oscillator failure or power supply abnormality, enhancing the reliability of the system. Its silent detection function records events where the host does not respond for a long time by monitoring the I²C communication activity (the threshold can be set, such as 720 hours), and is suitable for anomaly detection in remote monitoring or industrial control.‌

‌Application scenarios:‌ This module is suitable for fields with high requirements for time precision and reliability, such as smart electricity meters, water meters, gas meters (three meters), industrial automation, security systems, and wearable devices. The silent detection function is especially suitable for scenarios that require long-term unattended monitoring, such as environmental sensors or remote terminals.
