RX8130CE is a high-performance Real Time Clock (RTC) module designed specifically for embedded systems, offering high-precision timekeeping and low-power consumption features.
High-precision timekeeping: This module uses a 32.768 kHz temperature-compensated crystal as the reference clock source, with a built-in digital temperature sensor and an automatic frequency adjustment mechanism. It can compensate in real-time for frequency offsets caused by temperature changes, achieving a typical annual error of ±5 ppm (equivalent to an error of less than 2 minutes per year), and remains stable within the operating temperature range of -20°C to +60°C. Its internal structure includes a 16-bit prescaler, a calendar counter (supporting year/month/day/week), and automatic leap year correction logic, supporting the Gregorian calendar years from 2000 to 2099.
Low power consumption and power management: The typical current of RX8130CE in standby mode is only 0.5 μA, and it supports multi-level power management modes, including automatic switching between the main power supply (VDD) and the backup power supply (VBAT). When the main power supply voltage drops below the threshold, the module can seamlessly switch to be powered by a button battery or a rechargeable lithium battery to ensure continuous time counting. Meanwhile, it has a built-in lithium battery charging control circuit that can automatically detect the charging status and stop charging to extend the battery life.
Interface and integration features: The module communicates with the main control MCU through the I²C bus interface, with fixed addresses of 0x32 (write) and 0x33 (read), and supports an SCL clock frequency of 400 kHz (100 kHz is recommended to reduce electromagnetic interference). Its compact package saves space, with an operating voltage range of 1.6 V to 5.5 V, making it compatible with a variety of embedded platforms. It also provides an alarm interrupt output (INTB pin), which can be used to wake up a deeply sleeping system to perform timed tasks.
Function extensibility: In addition to basic time display, RX8130CE supports the frequency output function (optional 32.768 kHz, 1024 Hz, 1 Hz, etc.), as well as programmable alarms and timers, with an alarm accuracy ranging from 1/4096 seconds to 65535 hours. These features make it suitable for scenarios that require long-term offline operation, low power consumption, and precise time scheduling, such as smart wearable devices, industrial sensors, and portable terminals.
