THHN stands for Thermoplastic High Heat-resistant Nylon-coated wire.
It is a single-conductor copper or aluminum wire with PVC insulation and a nylon outer jacket, manufactured in accordance with UL 83 and approved for use under the National Electrical Code (NEC).
THHN is primarily designed for installation in conduit, raceways, and cable trays.
