High-purity Ni200 and Ni201 nickel alloy plate are used in chemical equipment.

Differences between NI200 and NI201

Compositional differences

Ni200 is a pure nickel material, with nickel as its main chemical component, containing up to 99.5%. Ni201, on the other hand, is a nickel-chromium alloy, containing chromium in addition to nickel, typically around 10%. Furthermore, Ni201 may also contain small amounts of iron, carbon, and other elements. Therefore, the main difference between Ni200 and Ni201 lies in the presence and amount of chromium they contain.

Differences in physical properties

1. Density: The density of Ni200 is close to that of pure nickel, approximately 8.9 g/cm³, while the density of Ni201 is slightly higher, approximately 8.95 g/cm³.

2. Melting Point: Due to their different compositions, Ni200 and Ni201 have slightly different melting points. Ni200 has a higher melting point, approximately 1455℃, while Ni201 has a slightly lower melting point, approximately 1350℃.

3. Thermal Conductivity: Ni201 has better thermal conductivity than Ni200 because it contains a certain amount of chromium, which improves the material's thermal conductivity.

4. Mechanical Properties: At room temperature, Ni200 and Ni201 have similar mechanical properties, both exhibiting good plasticity and toughness. However, at high temperatures, due to differences in composition and microstructure, their mechanical properties change significantly.

Differences in corrosion resistance

Because Ni201 contains a certain amount of chromium, its corrosion resistance is superior to that of Ni200. In oxidizing environments, a dense oxide film can form on the surface of Ni201, effectively resisting corrosion. In reducing environments, the addition of chromium further enhances the corrosion resistance of Ni201. However, it should be noted that the corrosion resistance of Ni201 may be affected in extreme environments such as high sulfur and high temperature conditions.
