DIN28120 Vessel Sight Glass — Circular Weld-On Pressure Vessel Sight Glass
DIN 28120 vessel sight glass fittings are circular flanged sight-glass assemblies designed to be welded into or onto vessel walls for safe, distortion-free viewing of vessel internals. They consist of a weld-on base/block, a cover (or cover flange), a sight-glass disc positioned between gaskets and bolted together to create a leak-tight, pressure-rated viewing port. These fittings are widely used for pressure vessels, stirred tanks, separators and pipeline inspection points.
Key Benefits
Standards-based design — manufactured to the DIN 28120 dimensional and assembly guidelines (sizes commonly cover DN 50 → DN 200).
Pressure & temperature capable — typical pressure classes for DN sizes are PN10/16 (higher ratings on request); typical working temperatures depend on glass type (e.g., soda-lime vs borosilicate). Ratings up to ~10–16 bar, depending on size and glass selection.
Optical clarity & distortion control — flange/seat geometry and specified glass thicknesses ensure the sight disc remains distortion-free when correctly welded and assembled.
Flexible material & accessory options — supports borosilicate (DIN 7080) or soda-lime (DIN 8902) glass discs, stainless or alloy flanges, a range of gasket materials, and options for illumination or explosion-proof light fittings.
Typical Applications
Used in chemical, pharmaceutical, dairy & food, brewery, petrochemical, and process industries, wherever visual inspection of color, clarity, filling/level, or agitation inside a pressure vessel is required.
Typical Technical Specifications
Operating conditions:Pressure resistance: 10bar~16bar; We can customize pressure vessels with a pressure range of 1.6~70MPa according to customer needs. The vacuum operating temperature can reach up to 200°C. Borosilicate glass DIN7080 is available for customization, and other higher-grade, high-temperature-resistant glasses can also be provided upon request.
Combination: Used with Lumistar spotlights for explosion-proof and non-explosion-proof areas. Provides matching threaded holes on the flange for securing the spotlight.
Certificate: Additional charges are required for acceptance according to customer requirements, or alternatively, certification can be based on DIN EN 102013.1/3.2
