I. Overview

In industrial production, parameters such as rotational speed, key phase, and zero speed of large rotating machinery are key indicators reflecting the operating status of equipment. Accurate monitoring of these parameters is an important link to ensure the safe and stable operation of equipment. As a speed/key phase/zero speed monitoring module in the Bently 3500 monitoring system, BENTLY 176449-07 is specially designed for real-time and accurate monitoring of these key parameters, and serves as an important "sentry" to safeguard the safe operation of rotating machinery.

Relying on Bently's leading technology in the field of rotating machinery monitoring, this module integrates advanced sensing technology and signal processing algorithms, which can accurately capture the rotational speed changes, key phase signals, and zero speed status during equipment operation. It not only provides reliable rotational speed data support for the start-up and shutdown processes of equipment but also offers phase references for the analysis of other parameters such as vibration through key phase signals. In industries that rely on large rotating machinery, such as electric power, petrochemical, and metallurgy, it provides indispensable data basis for equipment status evaluation, fault diagnosis, and preventive maintenance.

II. Technical Parameters

(I) Input Channels

Equipped with 2 independent input channels, each of which can be connected to a magnetoelectric speed sensor or a key phase sensor. This dual-channel design allows the module to monitor different measuring points of the same equipment simultaneously or monitor speed and key phase parameters respectively, improving the flexibility and comprehensiveness of monitoring. For example, it can monitor the main shaft speed of a steam turbine and the key phase signal of a certain bearing at the same time, providing a richer data dimension for equipment status analysis.

(II) Measurement Range and Accuracy

  • Speed Measurement: The speed measurement range is wide, usually 0-20000r/min, which can meet the monitoring needs from low-speed rotating equipment to high-speed rotating machinery. The measurement accuracy is as high as ±0.1% of full scale, ensuring that even small fluctuations in equipment speed can be accurately captured, thus ensuring precise control of the equipment's speed status.

  • Key Phase Measurement: Key phase measurement can accurately identify the keyway or mark position on the rotor of rotating machinery, with a phase measurement accuracy of ±1°. It provides an accurate phase reference for the order analysis of vibration signals and rotor dynamic balance adjustment, helping to locate equipment fault positions more precisely.

(III) Signal Processing and Output

  • Signal Processing: Built-in high-performance signal processing circuits can filter, amplify, and digitize the original signals input by sensors. Advanced anti-interference algorithms are adopted to effectively suppress electromagnetic interference in industrial sites, extract clear and stable speed and key phase signals from noise, and ensure the authenticity and reliability of measurement data.

  • Output Signals: Provides various types of output signals, including 4-20mA analog output and relay contact output. The 4-20mA analog output can transmit real-time speed values to control systems such as DCS and PLC, realizing remote monitoring of equipment speed; the relay contact output is used for zero-speed status indication, overspeed alarm, etc. When the equipment speed reaches or exceeds the preset alarm threshold or is in a zero-speed state, the corresponding relay acts to trigger the alarm device or control logic.

(IV) Communication Interface

It has the internal communication capability with the 3500 frame, and can transmit measurement data to the 3500/50 frame interface module in real-time, which is then forwarded to the external monitoring system or data management platform by the interface module. This integrated communication method ensures the smooth flow of monitoring data in the entire 3500 system, facilitating staff to centrally view and analyze various monitoring parameters of the equipment.

(V) Environmental and Power Parameters

  • Working Environment: The operating temperature range is 0-65°C, which can adapt to temperature changes in different environments such as industrial on-site control rooms and equipment rooms. The relative humidity is 5%-95% (non-condensing), and it can operate stably in humid environments without additional moisture-proof measures. At the same time, the module has strong vibration and impact resistance, and can withstand the influence of mechanical vibration and impact common in industrial sites.

  • Power Parameters: Adopts 24V DC power supply, with a power input range of 18-32V DC, which has a relatively wide voltage adaptation capability and can be compatible with industrial DC power supply systems of different specifications. The rated power consumption is low, usually less than 8W, which reduces energy consumption while ensuring monitoring performance.

III. Functional Features

(I) Multi-Parameter Integrated Monitoring

The BENTLY 176449-07 module integrates speed, key phase, and zero-speed monitoring functions into one, realizing one-stop monitoring of key operating parameters of rotating machinery. During equipment operation, it can not only track the dynamic changes of speed in real-time but also determine the absolute position of the rotor through key phase signals, and accurately judge whether the equipment is in a zero-speed state. This multi-parameter integrated monitoring mode not only simplifies the hardware configuration of the monitoring system but also facilitates the comprehensive analysis of equipment status, enabling staff to understand the operating status of equipment from multiple dimensions.

(II) High-Precision Speed Measurement and Analysis

The module adopts advanced speed measurement algorithms, which can maintain high-precision measurement performance within a wide speed range. Even in the low-speed stage during equipment start-up or the speed fluctuation process during operation, it can measure the speed value stably and accurately. At the same time, the module can also perform spectrum analysis on the speed signal to identify abnormal components in speed fluctuations, providing important clues for diagnosing faults such as rotor imbalance and shaft misalignment. For example, in the operation of a centrifugal compressor, the module can detect impeller wear or fouling problems in advance by analyzing speed fluctuations.

(III) Reliable Key Phase Reference Function

The key phase signal is an important reference benchmark in the vibration analysis of rotating machinery. The key phase measurement function provided by the 176449-07 module has extremely high reliability. It can accurately capture the key phase signal generated by the rotor per revolution, providing a time benchmark for the synchronous acquisition and analysis of vibration signals, so that vibration data can correspond to the rotational position of the rotor. This helps to decompose vibration signals into different orders, identify vibration components related to speed, and thus more accurately locate the root cause of vibration faults, such as bearing faults and gear meshing problems.

(IV) Flexible Alarm and Protection Settings

The module supports multiple alarm threshold settings. Users can set warning values and danger values for parameters such as speed and zero speed according to the operating characteristics and safety requirements of the equipment. When the monitored parameter reaches the warning value, the module sends out an early warning signal to remind staff to pay attention to the equipment status; when the parameter reaches the danger value, it sends out an emergency alarm signal and triggers the equipment's protection mechanism through relay output, such as shutdown control, to prevent serious damage to the equipment due to overspeed, stall, and other problems. This hierarchical alarm and protection function provides multi-level protection for the safe operation of equipment.
