Simulation of solar irradiation environment
The electromagnetic radiation of the sun is equivalent to the blackbody radiation of 6000K and is the main external heat source for spacecraft. Spacecraft orbiting the Earth are also exposed to the Earth's albedo and infrared radiation while in orbit. Solar simulators typically use carbon arc lamps or high-pressure short-arc xenon lamps as light sources, and are equipped with off-axis, coaxial or divergent optical systems to simulate the intensity and energy spectrum distribution of sunlight. Due to the high cost of manufacturing and testing solar simulators, for most spacecraft with less complex shapes, the method of heat flux simulation is often adopted instead of solar simulation.
