ASTM A312 TP310S stainless steel pipe is a stainless steel pipe used at high temperature, which is an alloy composed of high chromium (24-26%), nickel (19-22%) carbon (0.08% max) and iron. 310s steel is made with iron metal base in its purest form to make it more malleable and strong, to protect the base iron from corrosion at least 24% chromium oxide is used as an anti-corrosion agent along with other chemical elements. 310S stainless steel pipe is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel that resists oxidation in continuous service up to 2000ºF and can also be used in intermittent service up to 1900ºF because of its resistance to scaling and low coefficient of expansion. The higher content of chromium and nickel alloying elements makes stainless steel 310S pipe have good oxidation resistance and high temperature strength, as well as better creep strength.

What is the difference between 310 stainless steel pipe and 310S stainless steel pipe?
Stainless steel 310 and 310S pipe are austenitic stainless steel alloys used in high temperature applications. The main difference between them is their carbon content. The maximum carbon content of 310 stainless steel pipe is 0.25%, while the maximum carbon content of 310S stainless steel pipe is 0.08%. The lower carbon content in 310S pipe helps reduce the risk of carbide precipitation during welding, which can lead to intergranular corrosion and cracking.
