What is Skl14/ W14 Rail Fastening System?
The SKL14 rail fastening system, also known as the W14 system, is a widely used system for fixing rails to sleepers, particularly in high-speed and conventional railway applications, designed for ballasted tracks and known for its elasticity and vibration damping.
The system's design, including the W-shaped SKL14 tension clamp and rail pad, allows for rail deflection and increases track elasticity, which helps absorb vibrations and reduces noise.
It's suitable for both high-speed tracks (up to 320 km/h) and conventional rail applications.
The SKL14 rail fastening system is designed to withstand the dynamic loads of moving trains, contributing to a longer track lifespan and reduced maintenance costs.
The SKL14 tension clamp ensures a secure and reliable connection between the rail and sleeper, preventing rail movement and ensuring proper track alignment.
The design of the system, including the angled guide plates and the W-shape of the SKL14 clamp, helps prevent rail tilting.
Components:
SKL14 Tension Clamp: The main component, a W-shaped clamp that provides the clamping force and elasticity.
Rail Pad: A resilient pad placed between the rail and the sleeper, further enhancing elasticity and vibration damping.
Guide Plates: Angled plates that help maintain rail gauge and distribute forces.
Screw Spikes/Dowel: Used to secure the components to the sleeper.
Washer: Used in conjunction with the screw spike/dowel.
Plastic Dowel: Used to prevent the screw from loosening.
