ADAU1442/ADAU1445/ADAU1446 is an enhanced audio processor that allows for complete flexibility in routing all input and output signals. SigmaDSP ® The core features full 28 bit processing (56 bit dual precision mode), synchronized parameter loading to ensure filter stability, and the use of SigmaStudio ™ 100% code efficiency of the tool. This DSP allows system designers to compensate for the real-world limitations of speakers, amplifiers, and listening environments, significantly improving perceived audio quality through speaker equalization, multi band compression, limitation, and third-party brand algorithms.
The Flexible Audio Routing Matrix (FARM) allows users to run inputs from multiple sources at different sampling rates to or from the SigmaDSP core. This greatly reduces the complexity of signal routing and clock issues in audio systems. FARM includes up to 8 stereo asynchronous sampling rate converters (depending on device model), Sony/Philips Digital Interconnect Format (S/PDIF) inputs and outputs, as well as serial (I2S) and Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) I/Os. Any of these inputs can be routed to the SigmaDSP core or any asynchronous sampling rate converter (ASRc). Similarly, any output signal can be obtained from the SigmaDSP core or from any ASRC output. This routing scheme can be modified at any time through control registers, allowing for maximum system flexibility.
ADAU1442, ADAU1445, and ADAU1446 only differ in the functionality and packaging of ASRC. ADAU1442/ADAU1445 contains 16 channels of ASRC and is packaged in a TQFP package, while ADAU1446 does not include ASRC and is packaged in an LQFP. ADAU1442 can handle 9 clock domains, ADAU1445 can handle 3 clock domains, and ADAU1446 can handle one clock domain.
ADAU1442/ADAU1445/ADAU1446 can be controlled through one of two operating modes: the chip settings can be controlled through SPI/I2C ® Port loading and dynamic updates, or DSP can self start from an external EEPROM in a system without a microcontroller. There is also a set of multi-purpose (MP) pins that can be used as general-purpose digital I/Os or as inputs for 4-channel auxiliary control ADCs.
ADAU1442/ADAU1445/ADAU1446 is supported by the SigmaStudio graphical development environment. This software includes audio processing blocks such as FIR and IIR filters, dynamic processors, mixers, low-level DSP functionality, and third-party algorithms for quickly developing custom signal streams.
