Electromagnetic brakes rarely undergo real-time detection of braking force and braking process, but only undergo manual maintenance and adjustment on a regular basis. Therefore, occasional faults such as wear of friction pairs, fatigue of brake springs, and significant voltage fluctuations during the use of the brake cannot be detected and prevented in a timely manner.
The working environment of electromagnetic brakes is complex, and the braking components are prone to damage. Some faults such as slow and disordered brake action often occur, usually caused by mechanical and electrical faults. Common mechanical failure phenomena include insufficient braking force, inability to open the brake arm, slow brake release action, failure to brake in a timely manner despite tightening the brake spring and increasing the braking torque, sudden brake failure, high brake wheel temperature, smoke from the brake shoes, and brake failure.
There are still some problems with electromagnetic brakes themselves, such as: the short release and closing time of electromagnetic brakes, the large power impact during closing, and insufficient stability; As an electrical equipment, whether AC or DC power supply, it needs to have a dedicated power supply for control. When the power supply voltage fluctuates greatly, its control and maintenance are relatively complex and difficult to control; Electromagnetic brakes mainly achieve braking through the movement of the armature, so there is a high requirement for the size of the air gap of the armature. However, the air gap is very small, less than 1mm. If operated improperly, it can easily lead to operational failures, poor reliability of the brake, and unstable operation.
