Skateboard Truck Base Plates are a fundamental structural component of skateboard trucks—the T-shaped metal assemblies that connect the skateboard deck to the wheels and enable steering/turning.
As the flat, rectangular metal plate at the bottom of the truck assembly, the base plate is the critical link between the truck and the skateboard deck. It is mounted directly to the underside of the deck using bolts (truck hardware), and its angled design (called the baseplate angle, typically 45°–50° for standard trucks) dictates the skateboard's turning responsiveness and stability.
In short, they are the deck-mounting foundation of skateboard trucks, a core part of the skateboard's steering and support system—without them, the truck cannot attach to the deck, and the skateboard loses its ability to turn or hold the wheels in place.
