Composite insulator is a special insulation control element that plays an important role in overhead transmission lines. There are many types of polymer insulators.
What are Composite Post Insulator made of?
Composite insulators are also called synthetic insulators, non-ceramic insulators, polymer insulators, rubber insulators, etc. The main structure is generally composed of umbrella skirt, glass fiber reinforced plastic mandrel and end fittings. Umbrella skirts are generally made of organic synthetic materials, such as ethylene-propylene rubber, high temperature vulcanized silicone rubber, etc.; glass fiber reinforced plastic mandrels are generally reinforced with glass fiber, with oxidized resin as the matrix; end fittings are usually carbon steel or coated with hot zinc aluminum carbon structural steel.
Types of composite insulators
Composite insulators can be divided into: composite suspension insulators, line column composite insulators, pin composite insulators, column composite insulators, composite railway insulators, composite hollow insulators.
