SODIUM CARBOXYMETHYL CELLULOSE
Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (Na CMC or cellulose gum) is the most widely used and most frequently used type of anionic cellulose ether. It is a white fibrous or granulated powder. Odorless, tasteless, non-toxic, hygroscopic, easily soluble in both hot and cold water, obtained by chemical modification of natural fibers featured by unusual and extremely valuable physical and chemical properties. The main raw material to process CMC gum ceramics is refined cotton and wood pulp.
Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose powder has superior functionality in terms of adhesive, thickening, stabilizing, emulsifying, water-retaining, tenacity strengthening, suspension, film-forming, etc, is widely used in various industries, such as food and beverage processing, ceramic, pharmaceutical, toothpaste, oil drilling, paper making, textile, and dyeing, etc. In the food industry, CMC can be compounded with other food stabilizers and emulsifiers to complement each other, strengthen each other's effect and reduce the production cost.
The main indicators for measuring the quality of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose are the viscosity, degree of substitution (D.S) and purity. We divide sodium carboxymethyl cellulose into two types, type 6 and type 9 based on D.S value. Type 6 is common CMC (D.S 0.75-0.9), and type 9 (D.S more than 0.9) is acid-resistant with much better stability. Sodium carboxymethylcellulose na can also be divided into industrial grade and purified grade according to purity. The purity of food-grade carboxymethyl cellulose is much higher more than 99.5%, meeting GB1886.232-2016, E 466 and FCC IV standard. It is very important to guarantee food safety. We can produce carboxymethyl cellulose as required specifications from ultra-low to very high viscosity.
Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (cmc cellulose gum) is a natural, hydrophilic material. There may be lumps formed after the material is dispersed into water. Compared with other similar hydrocolloids, Fortune Biotech CMC has the characteristics of strong acid resistance, high salt resistance, finely distributed molecular weight, good transparency, few free fibers, low gel, fast-dissolving speed and good fluidity after dissolving.
