Storage silo cleaning
Silo cleaning is a process to maximize the efficiency of storage silos that hold bulk powders or granules. In silos, material is fed through the top and removed from the bottom. Typical silo applications include animal feed, industrial powders, cement, and pharmaceuticals.
Free movement of stored materials, on a first-in, first-out basis, is essential in maximizing silo efficiency. The goal of silo efficiency is to ensure that the oldest material is used first and does not contaminate newer, fresher material. There are two major complications in silo efficiency: rat holing and bridging. Rat holing occurs when powders adhere to the sides of silos. Bridging occurs when material blocks at the silo base.
Manual cleaning is the simplest way to clean silos. This entails lowering a worker on a rope to free material inside the silo. Manual cleaning is dangerous due to the release of material and the possible presence of gases. In cases of bridging, an
additional danger exists as the exit hole needs to be rodded from underneath, exposing the worker to falling powder. hydraulic whip machines are portable machines used to "cut" build up on the walls of silos while being remotely operated from outside of the vessel.

The portable devices are lowered in from the top of the silo and operated remotely — cleared material simply falls to the base of the silo for easy extraction by normal means. Safe to use, there is no need for an operator to enter into a potentially dangerous confined space and there is no risk of vessel damage. Our whip systems feature a boom reach of 10' to 23' and are suitable for use in containers measuring up to 150' in depth — all that's required is an 18" x 18" access way to drop and maneuver the positioningbooms and cutting tools. We supply the units as a complete package including hose reel and mount assembly, power unit, cleaning head, telescoping booms,and a variety of whips and cutting edges to knock down even the toughest materials. Our turnkey systems are cost effective, reliable, and can be used in active process streams and in hazardous and sensitive locations.
Project examples

By changing the direction of rotation of the whip, the agglomerated materials can be easily knocked down at the corners and the edge of the wall, or when the whip is entangled with the temperature measurement cable in the silo during work, just Reversing can easily solve the winding problem, which is a function that pneumatics cannot have.
