Description
The proportions of aluminum alloy and steel can be varied to obtain the relation between current carrying capacity and mechanical strength best suited to each application.
Core wire for AACSR is available with Class A, B or C-galvanized; "aluminized" (AZ): or aluminum clad (AW).
Additional corrosion protection is available through the application of grease to the core or infusion of the complete cable with grease.
ACSR
ACSR is a composite conductor consisting of seven or more aluminium and galvanized steel wires built up in
concentrilaystranded layers. The centre core is of galvanized steel and outer layer or layers of aluminium. The steel
core may be single wire or stranded wires depending on the size.with multiple center steel wire and correspondingly
larger quantities of aluminium conductors.When required, the interstices of the inner layers can be filled by grease
compound which is more suitable for the operating conditions of the conductor.ACSR is widely used in overheadEelectric power transmission and distribution lines with various voltage levels.
