ROV cable tether underwater neutrally buoyant twisted pair floating cable
The tether is a high performance tether specifically designed for remote submersibles and other subsea applications and is lightweight, high strength, and optimized for delivery. It has neutral buoyancy, 1550N of breaking strength, and is embedded with water blocking fibers to seal off any leaks. The tether has a diameter of 6.0 mm and is much thinner than most ROV tethers.
The tether has an unshielded twisted pair (TPU) with a 26 AWG wire. The core of the cable contains Kevlar lines for strength and polyester threads for space filling. Both fibers are impregnated with a water repellent compound to prevent any leakage caused by nicks or cracks in the cable. The high visibility yellow polyurethane foam jacket resists wear and provides neutral buoyancy.
