This specification covers for several grades of carbon and alloy steel mechanical tubing.

Manufacturing Process of ASTM A519 Carbon Seamless Steel pipe:
ASTM A519 carbon and alloy seamless steel tubing are produced either by cold-drawn or hot rolled, as specified.
Hot finished tubes need not be heat treated. Cold finished tubes shall be heat treated after the final cold-finishing at a temperature of 1200°F or higher.

Appearance for ASTM A519 Seamless Carbon Tubing:
A sufficient number of visual surface imperfections to provide seasonable assurance that they have been properly evaluated with respect to depth. The defect shall be removed or cut off within the limits of requirements on length. The finished pipe shall be seasonably straight.
