Ductile iron pipes, polyethylene pipes, steel skeleton polyethylene composite pipes and steel pipes with a nominal diameter of less than 100 mm or a length of less than 100 m can be purged with gas. Steel pipes with a nominal diameter greater than or equal to 100 mm should be cleaned with a pig ball.
The purge gas flow rate should not be less than 20 m/s.
The angle between the purge port and the ground should be between 30° and 45°. The purge port pipe section and the purged pipe section must be gently transitioned butt welds. The diameter of the purge port should meet the requirements of the following table.
The length of each purge pipe should not exceed 500 m; when the pipe length exceeds 500 m, it should be cleaned in sections.
When the length of the pipeline is above 200m, and no other pipe sections or gas storage containers are available, the purge valve should be installed at the appropriate part to take the segmental gas storage and the rotation purge; when the pipe length is less than 200m, the pipe itself can be used for gas storage. The method of dispersing is to purge, and the pressing point and the releasing point should be respectively set at the two ends of the pipe.
When visually exhausting fumes, a white cloth or a white lacquered wood target should be set at the exhaust port. No rust, dust and other debris on the target are qualified within 5 minutes.
