Gangway Towers are devices for loaders and crews to get on or off board safely in the process of oil tankers’ berthing at large modern harbor. The traditional boarding device is a ladder of the oil tanker.
In the development of the oil tanker harbor, the modern large harbors, especially those mound harbors without covers, don’t have a complete even surface. As the levels of these harbors are comparatively higher than those traditional ones, the oil tankers often experience jolt with big range. These problems cannot be easily solved by the tanker’s own ladder. The Gangway Tower consists of a standing column, a hanging ladder and other supplementary constructions. The hanging ladder even has the function of up and down, bending, turning around, and the adjustment of the front ladder.
The drive mechanism of the Gangway Tower usually uses mechanical or hydraulic drive system. Some safe device can be set when needed in order to ensure the normal work of transmission mechanism. Explosive-prove electric device can also be used considering the flash point of the oil.
