Carbon anode block/Pre-baked anode/Anode carbon block/electrolytic bath anode
1.Materials used: petroleum coke and pitch coke as aggregates;coal tar pitch as adhesive compound.
2.Application: anode material for electrolytic aluminum cells to conduct electricity and reduction.
3.Since this carbon block is baked or roasted, it has a steady geometrical shape, usually it is also called carbon anode for electrolytic aluminum.
4. Actual Practices:
Pre-baked carbon anodes usually are installed at the upper part of the electrolytic cells.
A powerful D/C current as high as 60-300ka goes through carbon anodes and is conducted into electrolytic solutions. A complicated chemical actions to disintegrate aluminum oxides happens at the bottom part of carbon anodes. Anode's final products are CO and CO2. Daily consumption rate for carbon anode is around 2-3cm.Regular maintenance(replacement/addition) to anodes is a must to ensure their's successive work.
