IEC60061-3: 7006-31-4 E14 Gauge for Tesing Contact-Making and Protection Against Accidental Contact During Insertion of Lamps in Lampholders

The drawings are intended only to illustrats the essential dimensions of the gauge.

(1) Dimension E is the reference diameter associated with dimension S.

The application of this gauge is restricted to lampholders for lighting fittings equipped with the following lamps when these are fitted with E14 caps, in accordance with sheet 7004-23:
Candle lamps*
Round bulb lamps
Tubular lamps
Pygmy lamps
* Holders with candleshaped shafts are also to be checked with this gauge.

PURPOSE: To check E14 lampholders in respect of:
a) contact0making with lamps having adverse dimensions,
b) protection against accidental contact with live parts, viz. the cap shell, during insertion of a lamp.

TESTING: The holder is connected in the test circuit as shown.
a) With switch A in position 2 and switch B openm, the gauge is screwed fully home.
In this position, both lamps shall light.
b) After the test of a) above, the gauge is withdrawn until the lamps are extinguished.
Swithch A is moved to position 1 and switch B is closed. The gauge is then screwed in slowly until either of the lamps lights. With the gauge held in this position, switch B is opened and the test probe at the side of the gauge is slid downwards as far as it will go into the space between the gauge and the holder.
In this position the lamps shall not light.
