The Frequency Shifting Repeaters system (FSR) consists of two parts: Donor Unit and Remote Unit. The Donor Unit receives the downlink signal from base station and shifts it to relevant channel, then transmits to the Remote Unit via relay antenna. The Remote Unit reconverts the received signal to the primary channel and covers the whole coverage areas. The Remote Unit receives the mobile signal from coverage areas and also shifts it to relevant channel, then transmits to the Donor Unit via relay antenna. The Donor Unit will reconvert the signal to uplink signal of the primary channel then send to the base station. Thereby availably expand and fill signal area where mobile communication coverage is blind, enhance communication quality. In-band FSR: the link frequency is within the working band of BTS; Out-of-Band FSR: the link frequency is out of the working band of BTS. As per the method of frequency shifting the FSR can be sorted into Band-selective FSR and channel selective FSR. Band-selective FSR: shift and amplify the signal frequency in given band. channel selective FSR: shift and amplify the signal frequency in given channel (Single Channelized, Dual Channelized, Four-channel Channelized, Six-channel Channelized, and Eight-channel Channelized FSR). As per the method of source picking up by the Donor Unit, the FSR can be sorted into Cable-Access FSR and Wireless-Access FSR. Cable-Access FSR: receive base station signal via a coupler link to the base station; Wireless-Access FSR: pick up base station signal in air via Donor Antenna (applicable when the coverage areas under outspread are far away from base station).
