Specifications: Atlantis products draw from considerable expertise in two discrete disciplines: Freespace optics and telecommunications networking. A free-space optical link consists of 2 optical transceivers accurately aligned to each other with a clear line-of-sight. Typically, the optical transceivers are mounted on building, rooftops, mountain tops, or towers. The optical transceiver consists of a laser transmitter and a detector to provide full duplex capability. Free-space optics enables very fast deployment of broadband access services and eliminates the time-consuming and expensive process of getting permits and trenching city streets. Wireless optical networks (WON), a combination of free-space optics and communication networking technology, is a high-bandwidth last-mile technology that serves the broadband communications market in metropolitan areas. WON delivers high-bandwidth access over the air using invisible beams of light. These networks provide end-users with voice, data, and video services at bandwidth speeds between OC-3 and OC-12, with our systems testing up to 2.5 Gbps. Wireless optical networks deliver data in the unlicensed teraHertz spectrum range. Since data is beamed over the air and not via fiber-optic cable, the carrier does not have to lease or deploy wired infrastructure. By employing WON, service providers can offer their customers basic telephone services in addition to bandwidth-intensive applications. Essentially, our systems are an addition, replacement, backup to a fiber-optic or electrical connection. Just like fiber optic cable, our systems are protocol-transparent allowing transmission of digital computer, data, video, voice over IP, multiplexed data, or ATM.
